A Boyle County man is facing several years behind bars.
John Tompkins of Danville, KY was originally charged with attempted murder of a police officer. He led police on a high-speed chase in November of 2015. After crashing into a car, police say a shootout ensued. The driver of the car Tompkins struck is still recovering from severe injuries; none of the officers were injured. Tompkins' lawyers worked out a plea deal in July. Tuesday morning, he was sentenced to 30 years in prison and is eligible for parole.
