According to Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck, a Science Hill man was arrested in the early morning hours of Wednesday, September 20, 2017 on various drug related charges.

At approximately 1 AM Wednesday morning Deputy Brandon Smith conducted a traffic stop for speeding.  Deputy Smith's interview of the driver led to a subsequent investigation of individuals at the Budget Inn Motel on South Highway 27, Somerset, Kentucky.

A search of the motel room that was occupied by two male subjects produced two baggies containing three grams of a white crystalline substance presumed to be methamphetamine.  (The baggies will be submitted to the Kentucky State Police Laboratory for further analysis.)

Steven Coy Thompson, age 27 of Sam Jones Road, Science Hill, Kentucky was arrested without incident and taken to the Pulaski County Detention Center.  A search of Mr. Thompson at the jail by Detention personnel produced two pills identified as hydrocodone.  Thompson was charged with: 1. Trafficking in a Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 1st Offense (> or = to 2 gms Methamphetamine)  2. Possession of Controlled Substance, 1st Degree, 2nd Offense-Drug Unspecified 3. Promoting Contraband-1st Degree.

Officer Billy Bolin of the Somerset Police Department and Trooper Adam Childress assisted Deputy Smith at the scene.  The case remains under investigation by the Sheriff's Office.
