Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck reports that a Whitley City man was injured in a single vehicle accident on Sunday, October 8, 2017.
At approximately 4:30 pm on Sunday, Deputy Zach Mayfield responded to a 911 call of a vehicle accident on Kentucky Highway 1642 (Slate Branch Road). Upon arrival at the scene, Deputy Mayfield found a red 2004 Toyota Tacoma off the roadway in contact with a tree. The operator of the truck, Matthew W. Sargent, age 19 of Whitley City, Kentucky was suffering from leg and shoulder pain and a laceration to his face.
Mr. Sargent was treated at the scene by EMS personnel and was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Wet road conditions and speed may have contributed to the cause of the accident.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Trooper Travis Thompson of the Kentucky State Police and volunteers of the Parkers Mill Fire Department.
