A 2-vehicle collision late Monday night on the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway injured one person and killed livestock being transported.
Russell Co. Deputy Sheriff Dustin Bunch’s investigation determined the collision occurred at 10:50 p.m. when a 1999 Chrysler van operated by Francis Brettnacher, 39, of Nancy, KY rear-ended a cattle trailer being pulled by a 2013 Ford F-150 truck operated by Logan Smith, 24, of Russell Springs, KY. Both vehicles were westbound near the 64- mile marker when the collision occurred.
Brettnacher was transported by Russell County EMS to the Russell County Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Smith escaped injury. Two of the six cattle being transported were killed, others were injured.
Sgt. Mark Cromwell assisted with the investigation.
