A two vehicle crash just before noon Friday seriously injured a young Russell Springs man.
The preliminary investigation determined John Curtis Robertson, 19, lost control of the 1990 Nissan pickup he was operating westbound on Mt. Pleasant Road resulting in the truck colliding head-on with a 2007 GMC Yukon being driven by Jason Austin Flatt, 19, of Russell Springs. Flatt had one passenger, 18 year-old Grayson Tea Pennington, also of Russell Springs.
Robertson was treated at the scene by Russell County EMS personnel and then transported to a “landing zone” coordinated by the Jamestown Fire Department just north of the KY 379 & KY 92 intersection. He was airlifted by PHI Air Medical to the U.K. Medical Center for treatment of multiple injuries.
Flatt and Pennington were checked out at the scene by Russell County EMS personnel but declined transportation to a medical facility.
