There was a fatal fire Thursday morning in Jamestown, KY. According to Jamestown Fire Department officials, they were called to a mobile home fire at 12:30 am at 100 Popplewell Street. The mobile home was engulfed in flames by the time firefighters arrived. After the fire was extinguished, a body was located inside the structure and taken to Frankfort.
12 firefighters were on the scene for 4 1/2 hours battling the blaze. Jamestown Fire Chief Jeff Landers said the cold weather hampered efforts to fight the fire.
According to Russell Co. Coroner Michael Reynolds, at this time the positive identification of the deceased and the cause of death are still pending further investigation and no additional information can be released at this time.
The fire is still under investigation.
