(Taylor County, Ky May 14, 2018) – On Sunday, May 13, 2018 at approximately 8:04 pmET, KSP Trooper Daniel Forbis was stopping on South Central Avenue to assist Campbellsville Police Department with a traffic stop on a blue 2012 Hyundai Sonata. Trooper Forbis observed the male driver slam the driver door shut and take off at a high rate of speed, running a stop sign. Units then pursued the vehicle until it stopped on Bell Ave.
William E. Nugent, 56, of Campbellsville, KY was arrested and charged with Speeding 20 MPH over limit, Disregarding Stop Sign, Fleeing or Evading Police, 1st degree, (motor vehicle,) Wanton Endangerment-1st degree (police officer), Resisting Arrest, Operating Motor Vehicle Under the Influence Alcohol/Drugs .08 (agg circum) 3rd offense, Failure to Wear Seatbelts, and Possession of Open Alcoholic Container in Motor Vehicle (prohibited). Nugent was lodged in the Taylor County Detention Center.
