A 1-vehicle accident over the weekend results in one person being flown to a Louisville hospital; Police say alchol may have been a factor in the crash.
The Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to the accident on Saturday, May 19, 2018 that occurred approximately 10 miles east of Columbia on Russell Springs Road (Hwy 80). 36-year-old Nicholas Kerns was traveling east in his 2003 ford pickup. Kerns vehicle crossed the center line, traveled through the west-bound lane, crossed a residential yard and went airborne, with the vehicle coming to rest in the front yard of a second residence.
Kerns was treated on the scene by Adair County EMS and transported to T.J. Health Columbia for treatment. He was later flown to University of Louisville Hospital for treatment. Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the accident.
Adair Co. Sheriff's Deputy Brandon Hitch is the investigating officer.
