ADAIR CO. FREE TIPPING DATES JUNE 8 & 9

Adair County Judge Executive Michael Lee Stephens and the Adair County Fiscal Court are happy to announce that "Free Tipping" at the Mid-State Waste Transfer Station, 877 L. Willis Road, Columbia, KY will be held Friday, June 8, 2018 from 7amCT-3pmCT and from 7amCT until 12noonCT on Saturday, June 9, 2018.

Free tipping is a highly anticipated event providing an opportunity for residents of Adair County to clean-up their properties and dispose of unwanted items and materials properly.

The Fiscal Court asks that residents choosing to take advantage of free tipping be patient as a considerable turnout is expected. It is also highly recommended that those hauling a load on a trailer or in the back of a pickup cover it or strap it down to avoid any of the materials flying off the back and littering the side of the roads.

Free tipping will be available two days at the Mid-State Transfer Station, L. Willis Road, Columbia, KY: Friday, June 8, 2018, from 7 a.m.-3 p.m. CT and Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 7 a.m.- 12 noon CT.

ITEMS NOT ACCEPTED: Tires, any hazardous waste materials, dirt, concrete, rocks, acetylene, oxygen, propane, or any other tank; steel cables, capacitors.

Paint cans will be accepted, but only if the contents have been previously dried with either sand and/or cat litter. Prior to the event citizens may contact the Judge Executive’s office for paint absorber until supplies run out.

Adair County Recycling Supervisor David Smith and other personnel will be on-site much of the day to assist with the unloading process. Driver's licenses will be checked to ensure the service is being utilized by Adair County residents. No commercial vehicles or waste will be accepted.

The Adair County Recycling Center accepts cardboard, plastics, newsprint, paper, steel and aluminum at 64 Service Road with personnel to help unload materials Monday-Wednesday from 7am-3pmCT. Bins are set up for collection every day. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to dispose of recyclable materials properly at their convenience.
