CLINTON COUNTY MAN PLEADS GUILTY AFTER DISCHARGING FIREARM IN HOME OF ESTRANGED WIFE AND CHILD

FRANKFORT, KY. (June 21, 2018) – Attorney General Andy Beshear and his Office of Special Prosecutions today announced a Clinton County man has pleaded guilty to wanton endangerment, criminal mischief and terroristic threatening.

Daniel R. Guffey, 53, of Albany, pleaded guilty June 18 in Clinton Circuit Court to one count each of first-degree wanton endangerment, first-degree criminal mischief and first-degree terroristic threatening.

Guffey is facing 5 years in prison and must pay $1,000 in restitution. He is scheduled to be sentenced July 12.

The Clinton County Sheriff’s Office investigated the case, and Beshear’s Office of Special Prosecutions is handling the prosecution.

According to court records, on or about Nov. 7, 2017, Guffey kicked in the door to the residence of his estranged wife and discharged a firearm damaging her stove, while she and her minor son was present. Guffey also threatened to shoot his estranged wife.

Beshear said Guffey is currently on home incarceration.
