Columbia Police responded to a single vehicle injury collision on Jamestown Street on Wednesday that resulted in damage to several vehicles at a Columbia auto dealership.
On July 4, 2018 at 2:01amCT, Columbia Police Officer Drew Conn observed an auto collision happen in front of him while on patrol. 16 year old Shawn Harrison of Columbia, KY was operating a 2003 Dodge Durango headed north on Jamestown Street. Harrison lost control of his vehicle and struck a parked vehicle in the parking lot of Franklin Nissan. The vehicle then turned on its side, slid down the roadway and struck 2 more vehicles parked on the lot. All 3 vehicles were owned by the dealership. Debri from the collision damaged a 4th vehicle on the lot also owned by Franklin Nissan.
Harrison was treated on scene by Adair County EMS and transported to TJ Health Columbia. He was not belted at the time of the collision.
At this time it is believed driver fatigue is a contributing factor. CPD Officer Drew Conn is continuing the investigation.
