A Taylor County, KY man was killed in a 1-vehicle accident on Friday, July 27, 2018 on Interstate 71 near Ashland; his wife sustained minor injuries. Alcohol/drugs are believed to be a factor in the crash.
According to a press release from the Ashland post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, at 5:55 a.m. on Friday, 58-year-old Eleanor Campbell of Campbellsville, KY drove her northbound 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier off the left side of the roadway about 2 miles south of the US 250 exit in Ashland. She lost control coming back across and went off of the right side of the road. The vehicle overturned several times before coming to rest against the right-of way fence.
Campbell's husband, Anthony E. Campbell, was partially ejected from the car and died from his injuries. Eleanor Campbell sustained minor injuries and was taken to University Hospitals Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland, KY.
Police say alcohol/drugs may have contributed to the crash and the Campbell's were not wearing seat belts at the time of the incident.
