Columbia Police investigated a 2-vehicle head-on collision in Adair County over the weekend. Officers believe the wreck is a result of drug impairment.
According to the preliminary report, the collision occurred around 12pmCT on Saturday, August 25, 2018 when 37 year old Tara Hoover of Campbellsville, KY was traveling north on KY 55 and entered into the southbound lane. Hoover was operating a 2006 Dodge Charger and struck a 2013 Ford Explorer head-on. The Explorer was operated by Lou Ann Carter, along with a passenger, her 14 year old daughter. All parties were treated at the scene by Adair County EMS and transported to TJ Health Columbia for additional treatment.
Hoover was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle under the influence of an Intoxicating Substance, along with several traffic violations. Additional charges are expected as a result of the collision and will be presented to the Commonwealth by CPD Officer Drew Conn who is investigating the collision.
