On Sunday, August 26, 2018 while on patrol, K-9 Officer John Dial located a white male sitting inside a truck in the area of Dahoney Trace. The occupant appeared to be asleep or passed out. The officer initiated contact with the occupant to check on him and it was determined he was under the influence of an intoxicating substance.
Officer Dial deployed his K-9 Gunny after his investigation revealed their may be a controlled substance in the vehicle. The K-9 gave a positive indicator on the location of drugs, and marijuana was recovered from the vehicle. The occupant, 28-year-old Corey Polk of Columbia, KY was also found to be in possession of another persons identification cards and financial information. Polk was arrested on charges of Public Intoxication (excludes alcohol), Theft of Identity, Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage in Public (prohibited) and Possession of Marijuana. He was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
