(Adair County, September 18, 2018) On Sunday, September 16, 2018 at approx. 2:10amCT, KSP Trooper Nick Davis, Tpr. Allen Shirley and Adair County Sheriff's Deputy Joey Keith responded to a residence on Liberty Rd in Columbia investigating a possible drug complaint. While units were inside the residence, a blue Ford Ranger being operated by 31-year-old Joseph Baker of Columbia, KY pulled in the drive and parked behind the residence. As Trooper Davis walked outside to make contact with Baker, he located a shotgun in plain view of the pickup truck. While Trooper Davis was searching the vehicle, he observed Baker had attempted to discard a small red flashlight. Deputy Keith opened the flash light and located a bag of suspected methamphetamine.
Baker was placed under arrest and charged with: Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon; Possession of Marijuana; Possession of a Controlled Substance, 1st degree,1st offense (methamphetamine); Tampering with Physical Evidence; Driving on a Suspended License 1st offense; Operating on a Suspended or Revoked License; No License In possession; Failure to Produce Insurance Card; and Failure of Owner to Maintain Required Insurance, 1st offense.
Baker was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail.
