Sears filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy today (Monday) and the filing will result in four stores closing in Kentucky, including the store in Russell Springs.
The company stated it would close another 142 stores, resulting in the closure of two Kentucky Sears locations and two Kentucky Kmart locations. A list published by Business Insider https://www.businessinsider.com/sears-kmart-stores-closing-list-2018-10 says the two Kmart locations are in Russell Springs and Grayson, while the Sears closures are in Bowling Green and Louisville. Sears will still have 14 Kentucky locations as a result of the closures. The last two Kmart locations will be in Erlanger and Somerset.
