Frankfort, KY - Representative John "Bam" Carney of Campbellsville has been elected by his colleagues to serve as Majority Floor Leader of the Kentucky House of Representatives.
The position is responsible for moving legislation to the floor of the House and serving as the leader of the Majority Caucus, which is currently controlled by Republicans.
"The opportunity to serve my colleagues and the Commonwealth in this role is a great honor," said Carney, an educator from Campbellsville. "We've tackled tough challenges to help our state, and I will give 110% to make sure that we keep moving Kentucky in the right direction."
Carney has led the way on many of the reforms of the past two years. He has served as chairman of the House Education Committee and also on the General Assembly's 2018 Budget Conference Committee, which hashed out the Commonwealth's budget for the next two years.
The House will convene on January 8 for the 2019 session of the Kentucky General Assembly.
