The Marion County Sheriff's Office responded to the fatal accident that occurred at 3:21amET Friday morning on Scott’s Ridge Road (Hwy 527) near the Marion/Taylor County line. A 16-year-old male, who was operating a 2015 Ford Focus southbound on Scott's Ridge Road, failed to negotiate a curve, traveled off the roadway and overturned.
The driver and two passengers sustained minor injuries. A third passenger, 18-year-old Bryson Conley Skaggs of Campbellsville, KY was ejected from the vehicle and sustained serious injuries. Marion County EMS transported Skaggs to Springview Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 4:47amET on Friday morning.
Marion County Deputy Tristan Hayden is investigating the accident.
Bryson Skaggs is the son of Gerald and Brandy Skaggs of Campbellsville and a 2023 graduate of Taylor County High School. His funeral service will be on Tuesday, August 8th at 1:00pmET at L.R. Petty Funeral Home in Campbellsville who is in charge of the arrangements.
