Bernice Burton Cowan, age 88, of Columbia, Ky. passed away Tuesday at 10:20 A.M. at her home.
She was born on Sept. 16, 1928 in Adair County, the daughter of the late Tim & Mary Jane Burton of Adair County.
Preceded in death by one brother & four sisters, Charles Burton, Lucille Burton, Loeta Redmon, Madeline Grider & infant Betty Jean Burton.

One son: Ronnie Cowan & fiance' Rhonda Akin of Columbia

Two Sisters: Phyllis (Donnie) Shirley of Columbia; Joyce Alberta Rodgers of Taylorsville, IN

Bernice was a member of Beawallow United Methodist Church, had worked at Union Underwear in Campbellsville, Adair Memorial Hospital, Westlake Regional Hospital, Fair Oaks Nursing Home in Jamestown & Adair County Regional Jail for over 20 years
Funeral service Friday, Sept. 15, 2017 at 1:00 PM at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. Clergy officiating Rev. Clifton Cowan & Rev. Lewis Burton. Interment in Bearwallow Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Bearwallow Cemetery and may be left at the Funeral Home. Visitation after 3:30 PM Thursday
