CHARLIE ROY, 83, COLUMBIA

 
Charlie Roy, 83, of the Freedom Church Road, in Adair County, KY passed away Sunday, September 16, 2018 at 3:36 AM at the University Kentucky Chandler Medical Center in Lexington, KY. He was born on Jan.11, 1935 in Adair County, the son of the late Ray & Bessie Combest Roy.
 
Preceded by one daughter: Vickie Lynn Roy on April 14, 1973; one sister, Eva Ray Roy and one brother, James Roy.
 
SURVIVORS
Wife:  Fern Huff Roy of 59 years & 4 months
1 daughter: Valerie (Byron) Taylor of Columbia, KY
1 brother: Lilburn (Geneva) Roy of Columbia, KY
2 Grandchildren: Natalie Taylor & Lindsey Jo Taylor
1 Aunt: Sarah Roy of Columbia, KY
Several nieces, nephews & other relatives & friends 
 
Charlie was a member of the Freedom Church of God, a longtime business owner in Columbia owning Charles Roy Grocery, managing Druthers/Dairy Queen, and served on the Freedom Cemetery committee since 1973 having only missed one annual meeting .
 
Funeral Service: Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 10:00amCT at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home with Bro. Carlie Riggs officiating
 
Interment: Freedom Cemetery
 
Visitation: Tuesday after 4:00pmCT
 
Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home in charge of funeral arrangements
 
Pallbearers: Jackie Aaron, Steve Roy, Rudy Higginbotham, Lonnie Devore, Bobby Devore & Stacy Huff
