Laverne “Blondie” Speer, 90, of Campbellsville, KY daughter of the late Alford Smith and Munervia Loy Smith, was born July 20, 1930 in Adair County, KY. She died at 1:35 A.M., Monday, December 7, 2020 in Campbellsville.
Laverne was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and a homemaker who enjoyed gourmet cooking and entertaining. She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Greensburg Baptist Church. Laverne enjoyed walking, exercising and attending her prayer group. She especially loved music and her pets.

4 grandchildren: Chris Newton of Campbellsville, Kevin Shirrell (Alisa) of Campbellsville, Julie Thornton (Brent) of Bowling Green and Jason Shirrell (Sharon) of Campbellsville
3 step-grandchildren: Allen Pike (Christy), Brandie Anderson (Chris) and Justin Durrett (Megan)

1 sister: Sue Jessie of Elizabethtown
Several nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends
Laverne was also preceded in death by a grandson, Gerald Newton on July 21, 1990 and by a brother, Billy Joe Smith.
