Chester “C.L.” Sayers, 88, of Windsor, KY passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at Russell County Hospital. Born in Casey County on September 6, 1933, he was a son of the late Hershel and Mattie Watson Sayers.
At age 17, he married his sweetheart, Jerrene Brockman, in Jamestown. C.L. never worked a public job, he farmed for himself all his life. C.L. was never a fan of winter, because there was nothing for him to farm. When he was 44 years old, his and Jerrene’s daughter wed, they took her husband as their own son and worked many hard years together. When his grandsons came along, they learned to farm as their grandfather and father did. C.L. loved the Lord and was a long-time member of Cedar Springs Church. He was known to do anything to help anybody in need, no matter what.
Along with his parents, C.L. was preceded in death by his wife of over 57 years, Jerrene, who he has missed every day since her death on March 13, 2010; three brothers: Wayne Sayers, Jesse Sayers, and Eugene Sayers; two sisters: Olene Johnson and Patricia Sayers; and his great-granddaughter, Caroline Grace Wilson.
