Doris Louise (Mitchell) Rush, 89, of Edmonton, KY passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at the Mary and Elizabeth hospital in Louisville, KY. She was born on April 30, 1934, the daughter of the late Guy and Adele (Gassaway) Mitchell. 

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Rush.

Doris was a member of the Edmonton United Methodist Church where she was very active in several committees within the church. She was employed as a Dental Assistant and office manager for Dr. J.M. Hayes, Dr. Norman Gooch, and lastly Dr. John Miller. Doris was a charter member of the Barn Lot Theatre Board of Directors. She was President of the Metcalfe County Republican Women and the Chairperson of the Metcalfe County Republican Party.

1 daughter: Patty Rush Smith (& husband, Steve)

1 granddaughter: Kelly Jones

4 step-grandchildren: Wesley Jones, Ashley Barnes, Abigail Smith, and Adam Smith

Funeral Service: Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at 1:00pmCT at Butler Funeral Home in Edmonton

Visitation: Tuesday, June 6, 2023 from 5:00pm-8:00pmCT and on Wednesday after 8:00amCT at the funeral home

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Edmonton United Methodist Church or to the New Liberty Cemetery Fund.
