Obituaries

Robert Anthony Weis, 66, Russell County, KY

Robert Anthony Weis, 66, of Russell County, KY passed away on Thursday, July 6, 2023 at Russell County Hospital. He was one of six children born to Bernadine and James Weis in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Bob and his siblings were raised in the catholic faith. As an adult, however, Bob found his faith home in the Methodist church while living in Bowling Green, KY. It was in the Methodist church that Bob met the love of his life, Lillie Sue. Bob and Sue married in 1999 and remained inseparable since that day. Throughout their love story marriage, Bob introduced Sue to many new and exciting things. Bob taught Sue the game of golf, but also pushed her past her life-long fear of the water, allowing her to share in his life-long love of boating.

Bob enjoyed a long, esteemed career in the printing ink industry having climbed the ranks from loading trucks as a teenager to nationwide technical services and sales support in maturity. Bob’s career spanned 48 years with his retirement from services occurring on June 30, 2022 due to health concerns. It was Bob’s career that took him to Bowling Green, KY and Bob’s love of the state that brought him back here when retirement called. In preparation for retirement, Bob and Sue bought Bob’s “dream” boat, relocated from Illinois to Russell Springs, KY and began taking family and friends out on some of Kentucky’s beautiful lakes. Bob was only able to get a few of the kids and grandkids out on the water before he fell ill in August, 2022.

In the last days of Bob’s life, he was cared for by an amazing team of people at Russell County Hospital who became part of Bob and Sue’s “family by choice”. Sue never left Bob’s side and those wonderful, loving people at Russell County Hospital/Hospice made that possible and cared, in all actuality, for the both of them. Bob excelled at many things but his greatest skill was his easy manner for meeting people, creating new relationships and actively maintaining those relationships with on-going contact, attention, care and support. His life and end of life is a witness to this.
