Daniel H. Hawkins, 95, Jamestown, KY

Daniel H. Hawkins, 95, of Jamestown, KY passed from this life on Wednesday, October 18, 2023 at Fair Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation.  He was born August 31, 1928 in Walton, a son of the late J. Fred and Lydia Anderson Hawkins.

Mr. Hawkins was a veteran, serving his country honorably in the United States Marine Corps. After being discharged from the military, he returned to his job at American Standard in Louisville where he remained until his retirement.  His work at American Standard allowed him to enjoy summer weekends and the month of August every year on the houseboat on Lake Cumberland. His trips to the lake began years before the State Dock was built, where a close bond was established with the other lake-goers, making their lake community friendships lasting ones. Mr. Hawkins was a “shade-tree mechanic” who worked on boats and was well-known as the rescuer of many stranded boaters on the lake. He was also an avid fisherman & boater, and was a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church.
