Debra Lynn (ex-Hopper, ex-Mahan) Tucker, 64, originally from Jamestown, KY, passed from this life on Tuesday, March 26, 2024 at Fair Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility. She was born August 19, 1959 in Russell County, a daughter of the late Sylvester and Auda Mae Wright Tucker.
Debra eventually moved to Lexington and earned her master's degree in English at the University of Kentucky. She was at heart a story teller, an advocate for Appalachia, and the soul of every party. Debra embodied the dichotomy of modern feminism, a stay at home mother who went back to school for a masters degree; a published author who could croon karaoke or weave a yarn to her grandbabies. She had a passion for books and spent many years in bookstores, inspiring a love of literature in those around her.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving son, Michael Gregory Hopper.
