Eloise Stalcup, 79, of Burkesville, KY passed away on Saturday, March 31, 2018 at Cumberland County Hospital. Eloise was born on February 12, 1939 in Cumberland County, KY to the late William McKinley Davis and Zola Mabel Johnson Davis. 

 

She was a member of Highland Chapel United Methodist Church and a former employee of Luther Shepherd Insurance Agency and First & Farmers National Bank. 

 

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by six siblings, Zelma Higginbotham, Cordis Davis, Billie Myers, Bertie Scott, Phillip McKinley "Kenny" Davis, and one great granddaughter, Anne Elise Thompson.

Maggie Ruth Norris King, 91, of Burkesville, KY passed away on Thursday, March 29, 2018 at Cumberland County Hospital in Burkesville. She was born in Cumberland County, KY on Saturday, November 20, 1926, the daughter of Jim & Mary Scott Norris. 
 
Maggie was a member of the Dutch Creek United Methodist Church and a homemaker. 
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son: Douglas King, and 2 sisters: Robbie Garmon & Grace Wright.

She was a member of Jamestown Church of Christ, house wife, she Loved the Lord, loved reading the Bible & loved her family.

Robert Lee "Bobby" Watson, 79, of Greensburg, KY, son of the late Lee Watson and Catherine Elizabeth Livers Watson, was born on Tuesday, October 25, 1938 in Lebanon, Kentucky and departed this life on Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at the Taylor Regional Hospital.
 
He had made profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Columbia. He was also a retired Aerial Observer for the Division of Forestry. 
 
Survived by his wife of 32 years, Sharon Gupton Watson of Greensburg, having united in marriage on August 24, 1985, 1 brother and sister-in-law: Ray and RosAnna Watson of Louisville; 1 sister: Brenda Penn of Georgetown; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Watson was also preceded in death by a brother and sister: Joe Mattingly and Elizabeth Strange.

BOBBY GILPIN, 85, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Bobby Gilpin, 85, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late Harry Gilpin and Gladys Sullivan Gilpin, was born May 8, 1932, in Taylor County, KY. He died at 1:24 A.M., Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Campbellsville.  
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Beech Grove Baptist Church, where he served as deacon and custodian for several years. Bobby was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville and also a farmer. He loved his farm and was an avid gardener.
 
He united in marriage to Peggy Wilcoxson March 10, 1951.
 
Besides his beloved wife, Peggy Gilpin, whom he took tender loving care of after she became ill, he is survived by two sons: Larry Gilpin and wife, Debbie and Bill Gilpin and wife, Karen of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Holly Carroll and husband, Chris of Cashion, Oklahoma, Miranda Zottman and husband, Corey and Aaron Gilpin and wife, Meredith of Campbellsville; four great-grandchildren: Jack Zottman and John Zottman of Campbellsville and Maggie Carroll and Reed Carroll of Cashion, Oklahoma; one sister-in-law, Betty Gilpin of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
 
He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Jimmy Gilpin and Bettye Mann.

Larry Tweedy, 47, of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, March 29, 2018 at 2:49 AM at the Baptist Health Care in Louisville, KY after several years illness. He was the son of the late Preston Tweedy and was preceded in death by a brother, Jeff Tweedy in 2006 and his step mother, Dottie Law.
 
Larry attended the Egypt Christian Church and worked for Allen’s Pest Control in Campbellsville for several years. Larry enjoyed fishing and the outdoors and playing with his dog.

Vena was a homemaker and member of St. Bernard Catholic Church.  She loved quilting and reading.  Vena also enjoyed watching red birds.

Kevin Pendleton, 44, of Nicholasville, KY passed away on Monday, March 26, 2018, at his residence. Born on October 31, 1973 in Casey County, KY, he was a son of Roger Glen Pendleton & the late Judy Carol Fox Hall. 
 
In addition to his mother, Kevin is also preceded in death by his foster parents: James & Doris Tucker and by 4 brothers: Jeffrey Glen Pendleton, Darin Pendleton, Troy Pendleton & Russell Pendleton.
 
Kevin was a licensed practical nurse. He was a member of Kingsway Church of God Mountain Assembly in Nicholasville where he played the piano. Kevin could make anyone laugh.

Sophie Mae “Allen” Marples, 95, of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at Liberty Care Center.
 
Born on June 13, 1922, in Casey County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Henry Allen & Lilly Buck Allen. Sophie was a member of Pine Grove Community Church. She was a homemaker, loved crocheting, flowers, and especially gardening green beans. 
 
Ms. Marples is survived by 3 sons, Dale (Barbara) Marples of Liberty; Gene (Rhonda) Marples of Vero Beach, Florida; and Jeff (Karen) Marples of Liberty; 10 grandchildren; Melodie, Beverly, Bobby, Aaron, JoAnne, Joey, Becky, Tyler, Nick and Brandon; and fifteen great-grandchildren. Other survivors include 3 brothers, Thad (Lorene) Allen of Liberty, Garnett (Vicky) Allen of Liberty, and Kermit (Connie) Allen of Hamilton, Ohio.
 
In addition to her parents, Sophie is preceded in death by her husband, Unas Marples, who passed away on October 27, 1994; a son, Elton Marples; three sisters, Loshie Peck, Waddie Browning and Margie Allen; and four brothers, Franklin Allen, Dee Allen, Omer Allen and Onsby Allen.

HAM JOHNSON, 82, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 

Ham Johnson, 82, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late William Roscoe Johnson & Sudie Collins Johnson, was born October 25, 1935, in Green County, KY.  He died at 9:12 A.M., Monday, March 26, 2018 in Lexington.

 

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Lowell Avenue Baptist Church. He served his country honorably in the United States Army. 

 

Ham was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville. Some of his hobbies were fishing, coaching softball and horseback riding.

 

He united in marriage to Charlene Hodges December 24, 1957.

 

Besides his wife, Charlene Johnson of Campbellsville, he is survived by two daughters: Penny Thompson and husband, Dean of Campbellsville and Lisa Cox and husband, Doug of Mannsville; four grandchildren: Brandon Rucker and wife, Bridgette of Campbellsville, Tiffany Cox and fiance’ Jason Malone and Josh Cox and wife, Jennifer of Mannsville and Matt Thompson and wife, Stephanie of Campbellsville; three great-granddaughters: Piper Rucker, Matilyn Thompson and Maci Thompson; two sisters: Marie Edwards and husband, Owen of London and June Morgan of Jacksonville, Florida; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

 

He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Gerald Douglas Cox, III and one brother and two sisters: Claude Johnson, Bessie Salsman and Thelma Stabell and a brother in infancy.

He was born on January 8, 1934 in Cumberland County, KY to the late Henry Loyd Willis & Maymie White Willis. Malcolm was a longtime heavy equipment operator and a member of Waterview Church of Christ.

HAROLD "HUDGE" HUDGINS, 82, GREENSBURG

 
Harold “Hudge” Hudgins, age 82, the oldest son of Carl & Bernice Holt Hudgins departed this life on Friday, March 23, 2018. Hudge was born on December 4, 1935 in Green County, KY and that is where he resided at the time of his death.
 
He was united in marriage to his beloved wife, Larkie McGinnis, on February 11, 1957, and they were married for 61 years before Larkie’s death on July 1, 2017. He was a devoted father to his two daughters, Fran Sprow and Paula Kessler, who preceded him in death.
 
Hudge was an active member of the Greensburg Cumberland Presbyterian Church where he served as both a Deacon, and an Elder, and was a member of the choir. He retired after serving the community for 44 years with the United States Postal Service.
 
In addition to his devoted daughter, Fran, and her husband, Kevan Sprow, he is survived by 4 brothers: Ray Hudgins, David Hudgins, Mitchell Hudgins & Timmy Hudgins.
 
He was the “Peepaw” to 10 grandchildren: Benjamin Conner, Whitney Scott, Christina Turpen, Martha Brown, Hunter Whitaker, Gabriel Kessler, Collin Kessler, Kallie Gensler, Chris Sprow, and Cory Sprow, who preceded him in death. He was a great-grandfather to 15.
 
Hudge is also survived by special friends: Martha Bardin, Howard & Anne Moore, Rod & Tracy Moore & their families.
 
He was a man of faith and conviction, with a larger than life personality, and a heart for every person he encountered.

William Edward “Bill” Preston, 85, of Campbellsville, KY passed away peacefully on Friday, March 23, 2018 at the VA Medical Center in Lexington after a brief illness. He was born on March 6, 1933 to the late James William & Beatrice (Stinnett) Preston. 
 
Mr. Preston was a retired realtor and had served his country honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Always a proud and supportive husband and father, he enjoyed being outside gardening and coaching Little League. His bright smile will forever be memorialized in the Facebook and Snapchat accounts he kept up to date.

BRO. ROBBIE SPENCER, 52, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Bro. Robbie Spencer, 52, of Campbellsville, KY, son of Bro. Ben Spencer and Shirley Saunders Spencer, was born September 28, 1965, in Adair County, KY. He died at 1:55 A.M., Sunday, March 25, 2018 in Louisville.    
 
He professed faith in Christ and was the current pastor of East Campbellsville Church of God. He had also served as pastor at Arwood Church of God and Gordon Road Church of God in Virginia. He was a very talented song-writer, musician and artist. He loved his family, church and sharing the Gospel with all he knew. Robbie was instrumental in starting the Fe India Children’s orphanage and had a heart for mission work.
 
He united in marriage to Denise Davis on April 6, 1985.
 
Besides his wife, Denise Spencer of Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons and three daughters: Ben Spencer, Caleb Spencer and Bethany Wilson and husband, Joshua of Campbellsville, Sarah Holt and husband, David of Elk Horn and Emily Spencer of Elizabethtown; four granddaughters: Maylee and Alaina Holt of Elk Horn and Emma and Evelyn Wilson of Campbellsville; his parents, Bro. GEORGE WILLIAMS, 94, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
George Williams, 94, of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late John E. “Mose” Williams and Mary Edna Thompson Williams, was born February 29, 1924 in the Oak Grove section of Taylor County, KY. He died at 7:15 P.M., Friday, March 23, 2018 in Campbellsville.      
 
He professed faith in Christ and was baptized a member of Mt. Union Baptist Church in Green County, later changing his membership to Pleasant Union Baptist Church.
 
An article in the Central Kentucky News-Journal portrayed George’s accomplishments very well, stating, “besides being the first black police officer in Campbellsville to patrol outside the black neighborhood and the first black to hold an elected office in Taylor County, Williams was also the first black downtown business owner and the first black Greyhound Bus station owner in the entire United States. In 1986, voters in Taylor County elected Williams as jailer. He also drove a delivery truck for the Central Kentucky News-Journal. He did that part-time for 32 years.”
 
He united in marriage to Allene Cowherd in 1944 and she preceded him in death on February 26, 1989. He later united in marriage to Celia Robinson DeMers November 11, 1992.

Mr. Young was also preceded in death by a brother: Reginold Young; and a half-brother: Lloyd Estel Young.

Reta Arlene Chenoweth, 67, of Campbellsville, KY died unexpectedly on Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at her residence. Reta was born in Taylor County on Thursday, May 18, 1950 to the late Dwight Edgar and Nancy Catherine Lewis Giles.   Also preceding her in death were a daughter, Brenda Ann Wesley and 2 sisters, Lois Ann Jackson and Marlene Pike.
 
She was known by many having worked as a seamstress at Fruit of the Loom for several years.

Flossie (Keith) Warren, age 91, of Campbellsville, KY passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 at the Cedars of Lebanon Nursing Home and Rehab Center. Born on March 17, 1927 in Jefferson County to the late Delmar and Flora (Barlow) Keith. 
 
Mrs. Warren professed faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She was a former employee of the Brown and Williams Tobacco Company and Mother’s Cookies in Louisville, and the Nationwide Sewing Factory in Hodgenville, but lived her life as the homemaker to, and wife of Mr. Herman Warren who survives.
 
She was preceded in death by 2 sons: James McNear and Randall Leon Warren; 1 sister: Delph Ray; 2 grandchildren: Lauren McCall Thompson & Paul DeWayne Sprowles.

Born on June 19, 1947, in Confluence, KY, he was a son of the late Potter Langdon and Laura Smith Robinson. He was retired from National Starch and Chemical Company. Homer was a Vietnam veteran and was awarded a Silver Star. He was also an avid fisherman.

Charles W. Spurling, age 92 of Campbellsville, KY, son of the late William Gobel Spurling and Mary Tarter Spurling, was born August 24, 1925, in Taylor County, Kentucky. He died at 7:30 A.M., Saturday, March 17, 2018 at his home.   
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Spurlington United Methodist Church. Charles was a farmer and also worked in a machine shop for many years.
 
He united in marriage to Lucille Minor January 23, 1949 and she preceded him in death January 8, 1991. He then united in marriage to Helen Hardesty Wise July 6, 1992 and she preceded him in death December 23, 1999. He later united in marriage to Carolyn Thompson, December 20, 2002.

Barbara Ann Whitehouse, age 75 of Greensburg, KY, daughter of the late Eugene Murray Spear and Julia Margaret Plummer Spear, was born on Tuesday, March 31, 1942 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and departed this life on Thursday, March 15, 2018 at the Green Hill Rehab and Care Center. 
 
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a homemaker.
 
Mrs. Whitehouse was preceded in death by a grandson: Justin Ross Whitehouse; and a sister: Gloria Jean Lake.
 
Survived by her husband of 58 years, Ross Whitehouse having united in marriage in September of 1959.
 
Others survivors include four daughters and two sons: Renee Keith, Teresa Slaughter both of Greensburg, Lisa Smythe , Sherry Whitehouse, Ross Whitehouse, Jr. all of Florida, and Wayne Whitehouse of Michigan; 20 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.

BRUCE RULE, 63, ELK HORN

 
Bruce Rule, 63, of Elk Horn, KY, son of the late George Rule and Sarah Jane Parker Rule, was born June 10, 1954, in Decatur, Illinois. He went to be with the Lord at 7:57 A.M., Wednesday, March 14, 2018 in Elk Horn as the result of an automobile accident. 
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Zion Church of God where he had recently been leading the singing for a short time.
 
He served his country honorably in the United States Air Force.
 
Bruce was salesman with Backyard World in Campbellsville and had owned a dental lab for more than forty years in Orlando, Florida.
 
As the saying goes, “he never met a stranger”; Bruce spoke to everyone he encountered just as if he already knew them. This often opened the door for him to minister to people about the Lord, whom he loved so very much.
 
He united in marriage to Carol Robinson July 13, 1991.
 
Besides his wife, Carol Rule of Elk Horn, he is survived by four daughters and four sons: Jennifer Yonkers and husband, Jason of Rhinelander, Wisconsin, Nathan Rule and wife, Jen and Jamie Rodriguez and husband, Gus of Orlando, Florida, Dylan Townsley and wife, Donna of Riverview, Florida, Jessica Noe and husband, Tim of Sarasota, Florida, Bryan Rule of Campbellsville, Clayton Rule of Lexington and Lindsey Rule of Campbellsville; seven grandchildren; one sister and brother-in-law, Paula and Dr. Brad Arenz of Orlando, Florida; two nephews and one niece and many other relatives and friends.

PAMELA GREGORY, 70, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Pamela Gregory, 70, passed away March 13, 2018 at her home in Campbellsville, KY after a long battle with what revealed itself to be cancer. After having spent her early years growing up in Boston, MA, and on the East Coast, Pamela moved to Central KY in the 1970’s, remaining here the rest of her adult life.
 
She acquired her Master’s degree in teaching at Campbellsville University and spent many years teaching at St. Charles’ Middle School in Marion County, retiring in 2012. In her personal time, she enjoyed painting watercolors of landscapes and the surrounding area.
 
SURVIVORS: 1 daughter, Cara Brower of Los Angeles, California; 1 son, Michael Rice of Campbellsville, KY; Her loving partner, Greg Costello of Knifley, KY.
 
The family will celebrate her life privately.

Pauline Hubbard, 88, of Russell Springs, KY died Thursday, March 15, 2018 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville. She was born May 22, 1929 in Russell County to the late Ira & Elda Harris Emerson.
 
Pauline worked at Hubbard's Building Supply along side her husband & son. She was a member of Russell Springs First Baptist Church.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son, Kevin Estus Hubbard and a twin sister, Iris Jean Emerson.

Diana Allen Woods, age 73, of Portland, Tennessee, passed away on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Hendersonville Medical Center in Hendersonville, Tennessee.  
 
Born July 28, 1944 in Casey County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late O.T. and Annie Whited Allen.  Diana was a housewife and she was loved dearly by her family. 
 
Survivors include one son, Tim Woods of Portland, Tennessee; two daughters, JoAnn (Howie) Anderson of Greenbrier, Tennessee, and Laura Madden of Gallatin, Tennessee; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. 
 
In addition to her parents, Diana was preceded in death by her husband, Hurlin Gene Woods, who passed away June 28, 2013; six brothers; and four sisters.
 
Funeral services are 2:00 P.M. Saturday, March 17, 2018 at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Brother Wayne Naylor officiating.  Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery.

MAZELLE CRAVENS ANDREWS, 94, GEORGIA (RUSSELL CO. NATIVE)

 
Mazelle Cravens Andrews, age 84, of Franklin Springs, GA passed away on March 10, 2018, at her home with her husband, Morris at her side after a long struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. 
 
Mazelle was born on March 12, 1933, in Russell County, Kentucky, daughter of the late, Zellah and Jason Cravens.
 
Mazelle had a lifetime love of learning.  She began in a one room school and graduated from two colleges; Lindsey Wilson College and the University of North Georgia.  She received an Education Specialist degree from the University of Georgia.
 
Mazelle married the love of her life, Robert Morris Andrews, on December 23, 1955.  In addition to raising two children, she was a master educator in the Franklin County School System and at Emmanuel College for over 40 years.  She enriched the lives of thousands of students.  Her example taught that hard work and discipline are the tools we are given to build self respect in this life.
 
Mazelle served her beloved church, Jones Chapel United Methodist Church in a variety of roles for decades.  She loved her church family.  She shared her beautiful voice and love of music as the head of the choir.  She taught her Sunday school class that faith in God teaches us that humility, grace, hope and love are the pillars of our spiritual life.
 
In the community she served as head of the library board and was active in the Georgia Association of Educators.
 
She is survived by her devoted husband, Morris; children, Robin Mercer and husband, Albert of Franklin Springs, GA and Dean Andrews and wife, Connie of Panama City, FL; grandchildren, Nathaniel, Megan, Brooke, Stephen and Morgan; sisters, Sue Stivers of Columbia, KY and Elizabeth Richards of Jamestown, KY.
 
The family extends special thanks to Ms. Sharon Huff and the faithful team of caregivers, as well as the Amedisys Hospice services.
 
Funeral services for Mrs. Andrews will be held in the Jones Chapel United Methodist Church at 
2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, with Rev. Tom Elliott and Rev. Chad Hill officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Marlene Jeanette Beane Smith, 86, of Russell Springs, KY, daughter of the late Oris & Agnes Smith Beane, was born on Friday, December 25, 1931 at Webbs Cross Roads in Russell County, KY and departed this life on Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Elizabethtown, Hardin County, KY.
 
She united in marriage to Carlie Earl Smith on October 22, 1949, he preceded her in death on July 31, 2005.
 
Mrs. Smith was also preceded in death by a daughter, Rhonda Kay Smith Kuschmierz, in 1991; her life-long best friend Mrs. Vatis Kinnett (Orby) Foley in 2009, and a brother-in-law Urias "Deedle" Stephens Jr. in 2014.
 
She graduated from Russell County High School and was the Valedictorian of the class of 1949. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith.

There will be NO visitation or other formal funeral services, with a graveside memorial service to be held at a later date.

Gerald Lee Alstott, 81, of Indianapolis, IN passed away on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at the St. Francis Hospital and Health Centers in IN. He was born in Liberty, KY on May 26, 1936, a son of the late Daniel Christopher Alstott and Lola Pearl Murphy Alstott.
 
Gerald was a former employee of Ford Motor Co.

Donald Allen Wood, age 60 of Burkesville, KY passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018 in Glasgow, KY. He was born in Irving, New York on Friday, February 14, 1958, the son of William and Margaret Mann Wood. 
 
Donald was of Baptist faith, a United States Marine Corps Veteran, and a Diesel Technician for D and B Trucking. 
 
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert William Wood, and his niece, Christina Reneea Wood. 
 
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Dean Wood of Burkesville, KY whom he wed on Saturday, January 15, 1977, his daughter and son-in-law, Michelle Lea and Harry Weaver of Cave City, KY, his brother and sister-in-law, Rex and Leola Wood of Gamaliel, KY, his sister and brother-in-law, Donna Louise and Robert Lawson of Fredonia, New York, 3 grandchildren, Kimberly Weaver, Elizabeth Weaver and Harry Weaver, Jr., plus a host of other family members and friends.

Eva Sallee Close Bowman, age 97, died on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at Concordia Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Greenville, KY. She was born on Wednesday, October 13, 1920 in Green County, KY to the late Emmett and Fannie Sallee.

She worked for 30 plus years at Fruit of the Loom.  She had made a profession of faith in Christ and had been a member of First United Methodist Church in Campbellsville over 77 years as well as having attended Drakesboro Methodist Church with her daughter when she was able.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Free Bethel General Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran and a farmer. Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by two children: Cameron Wilcoxson and Tammy Matney, one brother: Jerry Wilcoxson and one step daughter: Raydena Coleman.

Betty D. Adams, age 79 of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late John R. Jones and Sarah Frances Stapleton Jones, was born February 7, 1939 in Knifley, KY. She was called home to our Lord at 10:45 A.M., Friday, March 9, 2018 at Campbellsville Nursing & Rehab Center.
 
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of St. Andrew United Methodist Church. Over the years, Betty worked at McMahan’s Shoe Store, Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville, and Collins Drug Store in Columbia, KY.
 
Betty united in marriage to David Kenneth Adams on August 6, 1955.
 
She is survived by one son: Rodger Adams and wife, Janet, of Campbellsville; 2 grandchildren: Dustin Adams and wife, Amanda; Holly Tackett and husband, Brian of Campbellsville; 5 great-grandchildren; Chase Adams, Brylee Adams, Carli Tackett, Eden Adams, and Sadie Adams; two brothers: James Jones and wife, Pat of Campbellsville and Jerry Jones and wife, Barbara of Knifley; four sisters; Bernece Beard of Knifley, Carol Greer of Russell Springs, Ellen Foster and husband, Mike of Campbellsville, and Barbara Feese of Columbia; long-time special friend, Clara Durham of Campbellsville; multiple nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends survive.
 
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Johnny Jones and Paula McKinley.
 
Betty was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family effortlessly and unconditionally. Her generosity and love for them knew no bounds. She was a woman of faith and cherished all the simple things life offered. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, shell hunting at the beach, and spending time with loved ones. Family gatherings were always full of stories and plenty of laughter and love. She touched the lives of many with her generous spirit, compassion, and selflessness. Anyone who met her, loved her. She always had a way of making you feel loved and worthwhile. There was always magic in her touch and sunshine in her smile. She will be dearly missed by all. She will forever be our steel magnolia.

Stephen Lyle Sanders, age 60, of Knifley died Thursday, March 8, 2018 at his home after a brief illness.
 
Stephen is survived by a brother, James Byron Sanders and wife Wanda, three sisters, Karen Jane Richerson and Frieda Lynn Sandidge all of Campbellsville and Marsha Rhea Spires and husband Tommy of Louiville.   Also surviving are six nieces and nephews, nine great nieces and nephews and three great great nieces.

Alan Hamilton Humphress, 87, of Campbellsville, KY died peacefully at his home on Wednesday, March 7, 2018 with his family by his side.  
 
Alan was born the son of the late Omer and Nellie Hamilton Humphress on December 13, 1930 in Yuma, Kentucky.   Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Effie Irene Hornback and their son, Michael Shannon Humphress as well as eight brothers and sisters. 
 
He had served in the United States Army during the Korean war and was a lifetime member of the Disabled American Veterans and a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.    After returning home from serving in the armed forces, he worked hard as a farmer and had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Knifley Christian Church.
 
Alan is survived by a son, Alan Humphress, Jr. and his companion Brenda Metcalfe of Campbellsville and four daughters, Barbara Abell of Knifley, Moveta Keltner and husband Ray of Rose Hill, Virginia, Annette Humphress and Jackie Tucker of Campbellsville.   Also surviving are his siblings, Nancy Dixon of Knifley, Billy Humphress and wife Edith of Campbellsville and Karen Overstreet and husband Eugene of California, as well as 12 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Gloria Marcine Garrison, age 83  of Cane Valley, KY passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at 10:30 AM at Signature Health Care- Summit Manor in Columbia, KY. She was born in Campbellsville, KY on November 24, 1934 the daughter of the late Jack and Iva Clark Wells Curl.
 
Gloria was of the Methodist faith and a member of Pollard’s Chapel. She sewed elastic at Union Underwear for 13 years. She then began farming, loving to help milk and take care of baby calves.  Gloria enjoyed being outdoors, taking care of the yard work and working in her flowers. 
 
She was preceded in death by her husband: Charles Garrison in 2011, a grandson Jeremy D. Cowan in 1993, and a great grandson James Andrew Cowan in 2016.

CHRISTINE WISER, 92, LEXINGTON (FORMERLY OF LIBERTY)

 
Christine Wiser, age 92 of Lexington, KY (formally of Liberty) passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the Mayfair Manor Nursing Home. She was born September 13, 1926 to the late Lonzie & Ollie Belle Whited in Liberty, KY.
 
Her parents were tenant farmers and much of her childhood was spent helping her father with the horses and in the fields. As a child, she walked gravel roads to one-room school houses at Brush Creek and Good Hope.
 
On January 28,1946 she married the love of her life Jimmy Wiser. Together they had 2 children: DeAnna & the late Aubrey Lee Wesley of Liberty and DeAngelo & Nancy Wiser of Nicholasville, KY. She is blessed to have a granddaughter: LeDia & Aaron Espinoza of Parker, Colorado and a great grandson: Colter Espinoza also of Parker, CO. She spent her professional life of 20 years as a nurse’s aid at Kentucky State Hospital in Danville, KY and Oakwood in Somerset, KY. Her distinguished service was honored with several awards. In 1983, after the passing of her husband she retired from government service.
 
Inspired by her childhood of farming with her dad, she returned to those roots when she bought a 60-acre farm, finished and landscaped a partially built house and promptly started raising cattle, growing hay, harvesting and canning award winning vegetables in her garden, producing beautiful flowers and quilting prize-winning quilts and braided rugs. She did all this with her beloved dog Tiny by her side. She also provided private care to elderly sisters who had no family. When time allowed, she relaxed and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States with her many friends in the Homemaker’s Society.
 
Those who knew her would describe Christine as independent, having a spirit of assertiveness, a tireless worker, someone they could count on and who stood up for what’s right. Above all, she had a willingness and faith to trust in God in all decisions.
 
She was a member of the Poplar Grove Baptist Church, Red Hat Society, Liberty Hospital Board, Homemaker’s Club, Friends of the Library, Election Day Volunteer and the Casey County Pork Producers.
 
Besides her parents and spouse she was preceded in death by One Brother: Evert Whited and One Sister: Bessie Fair and a Great Grandson: Quentin Espinoza.

BARBARA JEAN LARIMORE STEARMAN, 89, GREEN CO.

 
Barbara Jean Larimore Stearman, age 89 of the Gabe Community of Green County, passed away on Sunday, March 4, 2018 at her home.
 
She is survived by two sons & daughters-in-law: J. T. & Shelia Stearman and Roger & Debra Stearman all of Greensburg.
 
Four daughters & two sons-in-law: Jo Anne & Jeff Withers, Brenda DeSimone, Regina Johnson and her friend, Roger Henderson, all of Greensburg, and Kathy Stearman & Keith Glynn of Louisville.
 
9 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, 15 step-great-grandchildren, 2 step-great-great-grandchildren.
 
Two brothers-in-law and four sisters-in-law: Eudell Stearman and Lydia Stearman, both of Hodgenville, Lee & Eleanor Stearman of Elizabethtown, Rachel Conrad of Cold Springs, and Margaret Pepper of Campbellsville.
 
Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very special friend & neighbor: Shirley Whitlow of Gabe.

There will be a Graveside Service held for Barbara Jean Larimore Stearman at 10:00 A.M., Central Time, Wednesday at the Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. 
 
There will be no formal visitation or funeral services, graveside only.  Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Steven Vince Kelsey, age 44 of Jamestown, KY passed away on Friday, March 2, 2018 at his home. Steve was born in Somerset, KY on June 16, 1973 a son of June (Warriner) McGaha and the late Donald E. Kelsey.

ANNA JEAN PEAKE WILLIAMS, 73, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Anna Jean Peake Williams, age 73 of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Alphonsus “Duck” Wethington and Angela “Ann” Wethington, was born July 26, 1944 in Marion County, Kentucky, but was raised in Clementsville. She died at 12:00 P.M., Thursday, March 1, 2018 in Campbellsville.
 
Anna Jean professed faith in Christ and was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Her faith in God gave her strength as she battled leukemia. She farmed for many years and later trained as a medical technician having worked in the offices of Dr. Henry Chambers and Dr. Jerome Dixon. Anna Jean loved gardening and country life.  She especially enjoyed spending time with her family.
 
She united in marriage to Larry Williams April 17, 1999. She and Larry enjoyed traveling, especially taking cruises.
 
She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Elaine Wethington and Jim “Duck” Wethington.

JoNell Hadley, age 85 of Jamestown, KY passed away Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Russell County Hospital. She was born in Jamestown, KY on December 13, 1932, a daughter of the late Bessie (Dunbar) and Silas Dunbar.
 
JoNell was member of the Mt. Hope Separate Baptist Church.

WILLIAM LARRY WILLIS, 65, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 

William Larry Willis, age 65 of Campbellsville, KY was born on May 23, 1952 to Betty Jewell (Bault) Willis and the late Welby Earl “Shorty” Willis. He departed this life on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at Taylor Regional Hospital. 

 

Mr. Willis was a retired teacher for the Taylor County School District, where he had taught English, History, and the Bible as Literature over thirty years. An unfortunate accident in 1971 left him with several physical ailments, but it couldn’t dampen his loving and generous spirit as a father, husband, and friend. His love of learning lead him to attend Campbellsville College and Western Kentucky University, and he was a member of the Kentucky Education Association and the National Education Association. 

 

In what free time he found, he enjoyed painting, usually acrylics, and he stayed active in the academic teams, the school newspaper, creative writer’s club, and the chess club. Mr. Willis professed faith in Christ and was a member of Fairview Baptist .

2 children: Miranda Willis and companion Chris Taylor, and Bryce Willis, all of Campbellsville

Valeree Dalton, age 93 of Russell Springs, KY died Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at her home. She was born October 25, 1924 in Naomi, KY to the late Sheridan & Lola Frances Floyd Eads.
 
Valeree was a homemaker.

CONNIE LACKEY, 56, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Connie Lackey, age 56 of Campbellsville, KY, daughter of the late Tommy Baldwin and Carolyn Sexton Brown, was born January 18, 1962 in Marion County, Kentucky. She died at 11:29  P.M., Monday, February 26, 2018 in Glasgow.   
 
Connie professed faith in Christ and was a member of Pleasant Run Baptist Church, where she had served as youth director and Sunday School teacher.
 
She was a former employee of Wal Mart and Lake Cumberland Head Start.
 
She united in marriage to Brad Lackey March 12, 1982.
 
Besides her husband of thirty-seven years, Brad Lackey of Campbellsville, she is survived by two sons: B. J. Lackey and special friend, Ann Browder and Keith Lackey of Campbellsville; one granddaughter, Alexia Marie Lackey and her mother, Jennifer Riggs; three step-grandchildren:  Johanna Edwards, Josiah Edwards and Mason Edwards; four sisters and one brother:  Jenny Burns and husband, Bill of Burkesville, Sharon Baldwin, Sandy Walters and special friend, Lamont and Peggy Baldwin of Campbellsville and DeWayne Baldwin of Florida; two sisters-in-law:  Sherry Edwards and husband, Ricky of Oklahoma and Desiree’ Culver and husband, Josh of New Mexico; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
 
She was also preceded in death by her step-father, Danny Brown and her step-mother, Mary Baldwin.

Steven Paul Walker, age 51 of  Burkesville, KY passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at his home. He was born on January 17, 1967 in to Betty Sue Wilson Walker and the late Paul Walker. 

 

In addition to his father he was preceded in death by one daughter Amanda Walker Moreland, one granddaughter Mckenzie Moreland, and son-in-law, David Moreland.
