Brenda Grant, 66, of Columbia, KY died Tuesday, October 30, 2018 at her residence.  Born January 17, 1952 in Portsmouth, VA she was the daughter of the late Eugene and Dorothy Moreland Hughes and wife of the late Raymond Allen Grant.  
 
Mrs. Grant enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her dogs, she also enjoyed reading.

WENDY JEAN REEDER, 65, GEORGETOWN (FORMERLY OF COLUMBIA)

 
Wendy Jean Reeder, 65, of Georgetown, KY (formely of Columbia, KY) passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018. Born in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late John and Betty Fudge.
 
A former florist, Wendy was an RN and worked with various hospitals including Eastern State Hospital and later retired as Director of Nursing with Harrison Memorial Hospital in Cynthiana. She was a member of Oxford Christian Church, enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening, volunteering with her church and cooking for her church or the Gathering Place.

EVERETT WILSON, 91, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Everett Wilson, 91, of Campbellsville, KY, the son of the late Mack and Myrtle Alma (Wood) Wilson, was born Friday, September 30, 1927 in Taylor County and departed this life on Monday, October 29, 2018 in Hodgenville at the Sunrise Manor Nursing Home.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Miller’s Chapel United Methodist Church. He was a veteran, having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force. Everett was a former truck driver, but always found time to go fishing.

NINA DAVIDSON, 83, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Nina Riley Lewis Davidson, 83, the daughter of the late Walter and Beulah (Smith) Riley, was born April 22, 1935 in Williamsburg, KY and departed this life on Monday, October 29, 2018 at her home in Campbellsville. 
 
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and attended the Mt. Carmel Baptist Church and East Campbellsville Church of God. Nina enjoyed crocheting and gardening, and took pleasure watching the hummingbirds that were attracted to the feeders she had at her home.
 
She united in marriage on September 24, 1960 to Alfred Davidson, who preceded her in death.

CLIFF LAMB, 90, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Cliff Lamb, 90, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Joe Lamb & Nellie Mae Sampley Lamb, was born October 12, 1928, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He died at 4:03 A.M., Monday, October 29, 2018 in Hodgenville, KY.  
 
Mr. Lamb professed faith in Christ and was a member of the St. Mark United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army. Cliff was a self-employed barber and was the former owner of a barber shop in Orlando, Florida.
 
He united in marriage to Mae Cornett.
 
Besides his wife, Mae Lamb of Campbellsville, he is survived by one son and one daughter: Reagan Lamb and wife, Diane of Port St. Lucie, Florida and Leah Lamb of Jacksonville, Florida; four grandchildren: Ryann K. Lamb of Mississippi, Andrew Jordan Lamb and wife, Sarah, Jane Meghan Lamb and Kent Blosser and wife, Kate of Florida; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
 
He was also preceded in death by one brother and three sisters: George Lamb, Laura Alfrey, Martha Loy and Alice Jones.

RUSS MOBLEY, 85, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Russell Glen Mobley, 84, of Campbellsville, KY died Friday, October 26, 2018 of complications from Parkinson’s disease at the Willows at Hamburg in Lexington, KY. Mobley was born on November 18, 1933 to Elmer Mobley and Ollie Allen Mobley in the Crane Creek community of Clay County as one of 9 children. 
 
After service in the U. S. Air Force, Mobley received his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Kentucky. He married Carole Ann McDaniel Mobley of Lexington in 1957.  He came to Campbellsville University in 1971 and was director of its theater program for 34 years.
 
Throughout his career, he was involved in local and state politics, church ministry, and sports broadcasting. He was the Republican candidate for the U.S. 6th congressional district in 1968, and served in state government as the Deputy Commissioner of Personnel, then Deputy Commissioner of Parks during the Nunn administration. In Taylor County, he was the Deputy Judge Executive in the late 1980’s. From 2000-08 he served in the Kentucky House of Representatives representing the 51st district (Taylor and Adair counties).
 
Mobley was an active member of the Calvary Baptist Church (Lexington) and Campbellsville Baptist Church, and served as the Minister of Music at the Palestine Baptist Church and Lowell Ave. Baptist Church, both in Taylor County, during the 1970’s and 80’s.
 
For two decades he combined his love for sports and theatrical skills as a radio broadcaster for high school football and basketball in the Taylor County area, and served as the “Voice of the Tigers” for Campbellsville University.
 
He was preceded in death by 5 brothers: Elmer Mobley, Jr., Imon Mobley, John Mobley, Wendell Mobley, and Stephen Mobley.

Vera Faye Morgan Wicks, 73, of Jamestown, KY passed away Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Russell County Hospital in Russell Springs, KY.  Vera was born on April 3, 1945 in Russell County, a daughter of the late Luther and Dollie Compton Morgan.
 
Besides her parents, she was also preceded in death by a brother, Fred Morgan.
 
Vera was a retired healthcare worker.

Brandy was preceded in death by her mother, Renee Clark and step father, Dave Clark.
 
She worked as a waitress at Coe's Steak House.

SAMMIE BRYANT, 88, CAMPBELLSVILLE

 
Sammie Bryant, 88, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Coy Bryant and Eula Grant Bryant, was born August 1, 1930, in Adair County, KY and departed this life at 10:44 P.M., Thursday, October 25, 2018 at his home in Campbellsville, KY.
 
He attended the First Church of God on Hillview Drive in Campbellsville and attended services regularly and enjoyed the fellowship of his Church family.
 
He served his country honorable in the United States Army in 1954 and was stationed in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was proud to serve his Country and was granted an honorable discharge on March 12, 1962.
 
Sammie was an employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville for approximately 37 years and was retired from this place of employment. Sammie’s favorite past times were fishing, hunting and gardening as long as his health permitted. He also loved to work in the yard and enjoyed the beauty of a weed free lawn and beautiful flowers.

Lanny Druin, 73, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Charlie R. Druin and Venie Franklin Druin, was born January 13, 1945, in Taylor County, KY.  He died at 6:40 A.M., Saturday, October 27, 2018 in Campbellsville.
 
He professed faith in Christ and attended Saloma Baptist Church. Lanny was a salesman at Cox Interior and had been employed for over 36 years. He enjoyed playing golf and loved watching his grandsons play sports. 
 
He was preceded in death by one brother and one sister: Bobby Druin and Audrey Weatherford.

Lela Evelyn Martin age 87, of Liberty, KY passed away on Wednesday October 24th, 2018 at the Casey County Hospital. She was born in Gilpin, KY on March 22nd, 1931 a daughter of the late George Emery McDonald and Lucy Belle Watson McDonald.

Lela was a clerk at Martin’s Grocery in Gilpin, KY.

 Survivors include: Her Spouse: Marvin Martin, One Daughter: Donna Jean Sharp of Liberty, One Son: Steven Kent Martin of Liberty, Four Grandchildren: Susan Sharp Lynn, Ronnie Gene Sharp, Brian Keith Martin and Brandon Kent Martin, Several Step-Grandchildren, Seven Great Grandchildren, Several Step Great Grandchildren, One Great Great Grandchild and Several Nieces and Nephews.

Donna M. Harper, 78, of Columbia, KY died Thursday, October 25, 2018 at 4:18 A.M. at Baptist Health Lexington. She was born January 28, 1940, in Russell County, KY to the late John and Josephine Carnes Marcum. 
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James F. “Jimmy” Harper on October 28, 2011.  She was a member of Columbia Christian Church and a homemaker.

Steven Dewayne “Bob” Mitchell, 55, the son of the late Wilbert and Nancy Hill Mitchell, was born May 30, 1963 in Marion County, KY and departed this life Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Louisville at the Norton Hospital. 
 
Steven was a dairy farmer and was of the Christian Faith. “Bob”, as he was known by, enjoyed fishing, camping, and building model cars.

Howard Lee Smith, 84, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of the late Sam Smith and Mary Lee Rice Smith, was born February 21, 1934, in Adair County, KY. He died at 12:33 A.M., Wednesday, October 24, 2018 in Campbellsville.        
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the South Campbellsville Baptist Church. He was a veteran of Korean Conflict having served his country honorably in the United States Army. Howard was a self-employed carpenter and built several houses in the community. His favorite hobbies were antiquing and collecting. He will be remembered as a very kind and compassionate person.

Elizabeth “Betty” Maude Sneed Salyers, of Liberty, passed away on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Liberty Care and Rehab. She was 79.
 
Born on November 29, 1938, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Elger and Evelyn Lay Sneed. Betty was a member of Mt. Olive Christian Church. She retired from OshKosh in Liberty. Betty enjoyed sewing, spending time with her family and hosting fish fries with her husband for family and friends.
 
SURVIVORS: 1 daughter, Renita (Jeffrey) Murphy of Liberty; three sons, Bob (Kathy) Salyers of Frankfort, Randy (Debby Grigsby) Salyers of Denton, Texas and Terry (Sharlet) Salyers of Dunnville; six grandchildren, Jessica, Jason, April, Danielle, Tyler and Shelbie; and eight great-grandchildren, Sarah, Kaitlyn, Dylan, Jake, Ava, Evan, Ali Kate and Jaxten. IMO JANE DOUGLAS, 83 OF CASEY COUNTY

 

Imo Jane Rodgers Douglas gained her heavenly wings on the morning of Wednesday, October 24, 2018, at Ephraim McDowell Regional Medical Center in Danville. She was 83.

Jane was a loving and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and cousin who always put others first even in her final days.

She was a school teacher for thirty-eight years, starting as a typing teacher at Middleburg High School and then at Casey County High School until she joined the Business and Office Department at the Casey County Vocational School when it opened in 1970. One of the subjects she taught there was shorthand. Her teaching skills made a difference in the lives of thousands of students, many of whom credit her with helping them find a lifelong career. Even after retiring in 1997, she continued to substitute teach another twelve years. She was a 1956 graduate of Eastern Kentucky University.

Jane was a member of the Casey County Homemakers and loved raising a variety of flowers. She also loved to travel, especially to Charleston, South Carolina. Jane was a member of Antioch Christian Church and attended Corinth First Church of God.

Jane Douglas was born on March 3, 1935, to the late Bill and Villa Rodgers. She married Marvin Douglas on August 15, 1959, and together they raised six daughters, Deborah Clements of Liberty, Maleena (Kevin) Nevels of Liberty, Deena (Boyd) Randolph of Liberty, Marvetta (Craig) Overstreet of Liberty, Michele (Sam) Iler of Versailles and Delinda (Bill) Johnson of Elkton. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren, Billy Clements of Lexington, Cassy Elmore of Liberty, Derrek Clements of Lexington, Andrea O’Leary of Lexington, Doug Streeval of Cleveland, Ohio, Meghann Randolph of Lexington, Brett Randolph of Somerset, Abbie Johnson of Liberty, Allison Overstreet of Richmond, Andrew Randolph of Indianapolis, Indiana, Will Johnson of Huntsville, Alabama, Emma Iler of Lexington, Lily Iler of St. Louis, Missouri and Julia Johnson of Bowling Green. In addition, she was deeply loved by eight great-grandchildren, Tristan and Briar Elmore of Liberty, William and Benji O’Leary of Lexington, Kiera Clements of Liberty, Clay Brewer of Liberty, Arabella Randolph of Indianapolis, Indiana and Blake Randolph of Somerset. Other survivors include three sisters, Iva Lee True of Liberty, Georgeanna Kelso of Fayetteville, Tennessee and Johnnye Powers of Fairfield, Ohio; and a special friend, Betty Huff.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a great-grandson, Ransom Wilder Elmore.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, October 26, 2018, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home with Bro. Steven Willingham officiating. Burial will follow in Middleburg Cemetery.

The family of Mrs. Jane Douglas will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at McKinney-Brown Funeral Home.

Jane’s grandsons will serve as her pallbearers.

Jonathan Dale Farris, 37, of Liberty, KY passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018 at Casey County Hospital. Born on March 7, 1981, in Boyle County, KY, he was a son of Michael and Debbie Clements Farris.

 

Jonathan was a customer service representative at NEAT Companies in Dunnville. He enjoyed gaming and particularly Super Mario. He had a passion for music and was a joyful person that loved life. His family, friends and coworkers made him happiest.

 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by special family, Conley, Amy, Sara, Daniel and Beth Roark; and a special friend in whom he confided a great lot, Terri Simpson.

Paul Grant, 84, of Breeding, KY died Sunday, October 21, 2018 at 4:20 P.M. at the T.J. Health Columbia Emergency Room. He was born January 29, 1934 in Adair County to the late Conda & Annie Burbridge Grant.  
 
Mr. Grant was a member of Breeding United Methodist Church, a retired school bus driver, a founding member of the Breeding Area Volunteer Fire Department and a former farmer, truck driver and sawmill worker.

Paul Goble of Campbellsville, 74, a son of the late Bill Goble and Alma Sexton Goble, was born November 18, 1943 in Floyd, Kentucky. He died at 8:56 P.M., Friday, October 19, 2018.
 
Paul professed faith in Christ and was a member of Bible Baptist Tabernacle.
 
He enjoyed farming and enjoyed making that his life work.
 
Paul was a past Deacon at Heartland Deaf Baptist Church and was a major help to Pastor Mike Bader. He also served as the church Chef and Janitor, taking care of the whole church.
 
He united in marriage to Karen Cave August 19, 1985.
 
Besides his wife, Karen Goble of Campbellsville, he is survived by one sister, Woney Lee Tackett of Cincinnati, Ohio; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends; his former Pastor, Mike Bader and wife, Candy; longtime friend and interpreter, Sharon Beams as well as his many Deaf friends.
 
Paul was also preceded in death by one brother and two sisters: Avery Goble, Anita Dull and Mary Belle Robinson.

Esther Harmon, 97, of Campbellsville, KY, a daughter of the late H. O. Purvis and Nancy DeSpain Purvis, was born October 4, 1921 in Taylor County, KY. She died at 2:30 A.M., Saturday, October 20, 2018 in Campbellsville.     
 
She was a former employee of the Aquarium World Fish Store and also worked in a furniture store with her husband, Ernest. She was an amazing seamstress and enjoyed quilting. Mrs. Harmon professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
 
She united in marriage to Ernest R. Harmon October 21, 1939 and he preceded her in death September 30, 2001.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ was of the Baptist Faith. “Red”, as most people knew him as was an avid UK Basketball fan, but enjoyed all sports and loved country music.

Mr. Gasaway was an employee of Fischer's Meat Packing Company.

Sarah Cape Burchett, 91, of Columbia, KY died Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 3:25 P.M. at Summit Manor. She was born May 28, 1927 in Adair County to the late Finis & Emma Sullivan Cape.  
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter Burchett on July 28, 2005, one brother, Preston Cape, five sisters, Opal Hadley, Hallie Woodville, Gladys Melson, Mildred Cox & Marie Hill, and one son-in-law, Harold Wheat.  She attended Tabor Community Church & a homemaker.

Dean Vannoy, 84, of Sanders Ridge Road, Liberty, KY passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2018, at the Casey County Hospital. Born October 2, 1934 in Casey County, KY, he was a son of the late Wayne and Marie Goode Vannoy.
 
Mr. Vannoy was a farmer and of the Baptist faith. He was well known for raising watermelons and cantaloupes. During the Korean War era, Mr. Vannoy was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as an engineer.

Otha Jay Brown, 85, of Russell Springs, KY passed away on Friday, October 19, 2018, at the Russell County Hospital. Born October 22, 1932, in Casey County, KY, he was the son of the late Roosevelt & Elzie Lawless Brown.

 

Otha was a self-employed auto mechanic and attended First Baptist Church of Russell Springs. He was a US Army Veteran with two years of dedicated service. Otha loved his family, friends, and most of all, his Lord Jesus Christ. In every conversation, he wanted to talk about his Savior and the great hunting and fishing moments he had experienced.

 

SURVIVORS: his beloved wife, Betty Lou Hudson Brown of Russell Springs; 1 daughter, Karla (Dwight) Bastin of Russell Springs; 2 step-sons, Mark Stapp of Laurel, Mississippi, and Chris (Tammy) Stapp of Russell Springs; 1 brother, Lewis (Sarah) Brown of Danville; 2 grandchildren, Jami (Michael) West of Somerset, and Amanda (Larry) Hughes of Salvisa; 5 great-grandchildren, Chloe, Ashlynn, Anna, Ava, and Ansley; and “pa” to four step grandchildren, Daniel, Samuel, Rebecca, and Luke; a host of nieces and nephews

Levi Arvin “Boobii” Holt, of Dunnville, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at the University of Kentucky Hospital in Lexington. He was 30 years old. Born on September 8, 1988, in Pulaski County, Kentucky, he was a son of Eddie and Shirley Mae Traylor Holt.

 

In addition to his parents, he is survived by a son, Gabriel Joseph Edward Holt; the mother of his son, Kimber Luttrell; an estranged wife, Sunshine Holt; a step-daughter, Marissa Livers; a step- grandson; a sister, Sara (Robert) Luttrell; and two brothers, James Holt and Jacob Holt. Other survivors include several nieces and nephews, Brooklyn Holt, Carter Holt, Elijah Luttrell, Creed Holt, Ryder Luttrell, Skylar Luttrell and Spencer Luttrell; a maternal grandmother, Fredia Traylor; several aunts and uncles, Sherry and Lewis Doss, Bruce and Valerie Holt, Brent and Linda Thomas, Larry and Alice Holt, Mark and Teresa Holt, Eldon Holt and Carson Holt.

 

Levi is preceded in death by a maternal grandfather, James Arvin Traylor; paternal grandparents, Willie and Daisy Holt; and a paternal uncle, Wayne Holt.

Dillery Margaret Cooper Bell of Liberty, Kentucky, passed away on Monday, October 15, 2018, at the Casey County Hospital.  She was 90 years of age. Born July 3, 1928, in Casey County, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Matthew Thomas and Estelle Fottenbury Cooper. 

 

Margaret was a housewife and former employee of the sewing factory.  She attended both Rheber Church of the Nazarene and Highway 206 Holiness Church.  Margaret was a Christian lady who trusted God and loved her family.  She enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. 

 

Survivors: 1 daughter, Sandy Moxley Sneed of Liberty; 1 adopted daughter, Katie Bell of Nicholasville; 1 step-daughters, Nancy Davis and Nannette Wright, both of Liberty; 2 grandchildren, Joey Rowland and Bridget Rowland; 1 brother, Raymond (Edwinna) Cooper of Liberty; and 1 sister, Helen Clements of Liberty.

Herbert England of Campbellsville, 94, son of the late Ira Watson England and Sular Janes England was born January 18, 1924, in Taylor County, KY. He died at 6:58 A.M., Sunday, October 14, 2018 in Campbellsville.         
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Meadowview Baptist Church. He was a veteran of World War II having served his country honorably in the United States Navy. Herbert was a former general contractor.
 
He united in marriage to Lucy Elizabeth Crawley England November 8, 1946. She preceded him in death January 21, 2015.

She was retired from the Jefferson County Clerks Office, a former volunteer at Baptist East Hospital and a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church. She was a passionate fan of the Kentucky Derby and enjoyed a good Derby party with family and friends.

James Howard “Jimmy” Morris, 65, of Campbellsville, KY, a son of Ruby (Smith) Morris and the late Charles William Morris, passed peacefully from this life on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at his home. He was born on February 22, 1953.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran, having served his country honorably in the Army National Guard. He was an honest man with honorable intentions, and enjoyed tinkering around with old cars and tractors, and was an avid NASCAR fan. He remained an Earnhardt fan until the end.

Tom Mardis, 98, of Campbellsville, son of the late James H. Mardis and Della Sullivan Mardis, was born December 6, 1919, in Taylor County, KY. He died at 10:45 P.M., Saturday, October 13, 2018 in Hodgenville.
 
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Earlys Chapel United Methodist Church. Tom had a passion for farming starting at an early age and continued as long as he was able. He united to marriage to LouVenia Sallee December 24, 1943 and she preceded him in death July 3, 2006.
 
He is survived by two sons: Terry Mardis and wife, Debbie and Larry Mardis and wife, Carolyn; six grandchildren: James Mardis and wife, Brandy, Jeff Mardis, Scott Mardis, Shanon O’Banion and husband, Jonathan, Brian Mardis and wife, Dawn and Michael Mardis and wife, Lisa, all of Campbellsville; eight great-grandchildren: Noah Mardis, Cole Mardis, Blake Mardis, Andrew Mardis, Luke Mardis, Landon O’Banion, Layton O’Banion and Jamie Mardis of Campbellsville; one step-great-grandchild, Willie Keys of Campbellsville; one sister, Bernice Bowen of Campbellsville, and several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

Joe Davis, 84, was born March 4,1934 in Green County, KY to the late Edgar Daniel Davis and Genevee Tucker Davis. He departed this life Tuesday at his home in the Grab Community of Green County.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Oak Grove Separate Baptist Church. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War. He was a member of the James L. Pruitt VFW Post 5813 Greensburg, KY and the Rod Lowe American Legion Post 124, Greensburg, KY. He was owner and operator of Circle Music.
 
He was preceded in death October 17, 1989 by his wife Rowena Mae Lindsey Davis. Besides his parents, he is also preceded in death by one daughter: Sissy Davis, two grandsons: Shawn Owens and James “T-Bo” Davis and two brothers and one sister: J.C. Davis, Betty Nell Russell and Stanley Davis.

Audrey Naomi Newcomb, 79, of Campbellsville, KY passed away on Tuesday, June 26, 2018. Audrey was born to Robert and Lottie Peterson on October 1, 1938 in Campbellsville, KY. 
 
Audrey grew up as the youngest of 8 and attended Campbellsville High School. In 1956, she married Bobby Joe Newcomb. Audrey attended beautician school and worked for many years as a beautician in Taylor County. Audrey was a wonderful cook and homemaker and enjoyed gardening, sewing and crocheting. In 2012, she moved to Westfield, Massachusetts to be closer to her son and his family.
 
SURVIVORS: 1 son, James Allen Newcomb; her daughter-in-law, Cindy Newcomb; 2 granddaughters: Audrey Jo Newcomb and Carlie Beth Newcomb; several nieces and nephews and may other relatives and friends.

Earldeen A. “Deen” Smith, 79, of Campbellsville, KY, a daughter of the late Earl Atwood and Hazel Irene Dunn Atwood, was born July 22, 1939, in Simpson County, KY. She died at 10:45 A.M., Monday, October 8, 2018 in Louisville.
 
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of First United Methodist Church where she had held several positions, including being a member of the choir, the Susan Loy Circle and the Board of Trustees. She was a member of the Campbellsville Women’s Club and the Business and Professional Women’s Club. Deen was a retired schoolteacher having taught in schools in Kentucky and Ohio for more than 40 years and almost 30 of those were with the Taylor County School System.
 
She united in marriage to Tom H. Smith June 20, 1960.
 
Besides her husband, Tom Smith of Campbellsville, she is survived by 2 daughters: Tommi Hamilton and husband, Bob of Montgomery, Texas and Terri Gabriel and husband, T. She united in marriage to James Lenwood Mitchell February 3, 1951 and he preceded her in death October 14, 2004. She later united in marriage to Bert Rhodes, Jr. April 9, 2014.

Mary Helen Montgomery, 96, of Columbia, KY passed away Monday, October 8, 2018 at 9:45 PM at T J Health Columbia. She was born near Columbia, KY on January 8, 1922 the daughter of the late Irvin and Cora Whitlock Keltner.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband: James L. Montgomery in February 2008 and by all of her 12 siblings. 
 
Mary Helen was a member of the Columbia Christian Church. Along with her husband, they operated Montgomery Grocery for 20 years and she worked at the Adair County School System for 11 years.

Verna Ruthene Wallace Pierce, 82, of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, a daughter of the late Vernard Aried Wallace and Iona Beatrice Chaudoin Wallace, was born on Friday, February 21, 1936 in Green County, KY.  She departed this life on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee. 
 
She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Corner Stone Free Will Baptist Church in Tennessee. She was also a retired seamstress for Handmacher Manufacturing Company. 
 
She united in marriage to Ray Junior Pierce on September 2, 1954 who preceded her in death on February 19, 2010.
 
She was preceded in death by 3 sisters-in-law and 1 brother-in-law: Juver Davis, Geneva McAllister, Elsie Shirrell, and Les Pierce.

Ed was a former employee for the IRS and was a U.S. Army veteran.  He was also a world traveler; exploring several countries throughout his life.

ROBIN M. PENNINGTON, 55, LIBERTY

 

Robin Michelle Pennington, 55, of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday, October 7, 2018 at her residence, holding the hand of her husband and with her family by her side. Born on April 17, 1963 in Rome, Georgia, she was a daughter of George and Judye Green Wood.

 

Robin was a medical coder at Gordon Hospital. She was a founding member of Rockbridge Church in Calhoun, Georgia. She loved her animals, especially her mule, Liza Jane. Robin was a very inspirational person with a radiant and touching personality.

 

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, Jimmy Pennington, who she wed on November 5, 2017; a daughter, Charissa (Clint) Baker of Adairsville, Georgia; and a grandson, Silas Baker. Other survivors include a special aunt, Joy Bell; and a special cousin, Carmen Knox.

 

Robin is preceded in death by two brothers, Brent Wood and Bill Wood.

Santia Fee Anderson, 95, was born April 19, 1923 in Green County, KY to the late Fred and Hattie Bridgewater Anderson. He departed this life Thursday, October 4, 2018 at the Campbellsville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
 
He had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church where he was a deacon until his health failed. He was united in marriage May 23, 1947 to Maggie Ruth Anderson, who survives. SHIRLEY CHELF, 83, ELK HORN

 
Shirley Chelf, 83, of Elk Horn, KY, a daughter of the late Lloyd Burress and Molly Seaborne Burress, was born April 16, 1935, in Taylor County, Kentucky. She died at 6:23 A.M., Wednesday, October 3, 2018 in Elk Horn.        
 
She professed faith in Christ and attended Feathersburg Church of God since it first opened. Shirley was a retired employee of Fruit of the Loom in Campbellsville.
 
She united in marriage to Richard E. Chelf September 22, 1960. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and a friend to all.
 
Besides her husband, Richard E. Chelf of Elk Horn, she is survived by one son and one daughter: Kenneth Chelf and significant other, Tiffany Cox of Elk Horn and Kathy Evans and husband, Jerry of Mt. Sherman; four grandchildren: Casey Chelf of Knifley, Ashley Chelf Nelson and husband, Joe and Zachary Chelf of Elk Horn and Steven Evans of Mt. Sherman; six great-grandchildren: Anden Jensen, Addison Nelson, Kyler Jensen, Ansley Nelson, Finleigh Chelf and Carson Nelson; one brother and two sisters: Bobby Burress and wife, Dorothy, Christine Wise and Loretta Gaddis of Elk Horn; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.
 
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Stephanie Evans and three brothers and two sisters: Lester Burress, Harold Burress, Walter Sam Burress, Edna Lee Burress Herron and Lillie Marie Burress Poynter Woodrum.

Becky Frances Robertson, 70, of Russell Springs, died Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at the Hospice of Lake Cumberland, Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset. She was born August 14, 1948 in Somerset to the late Orvis "Red" & Mary Elizabeth Leach Robertson.
 
She attended the Russell Springs United Methodist Church. Becky was a Purchasing Agent for the Kentucky Department of Transportation.
 
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Robertson.

Mary Helen Morgan, 82, of Florida (formerly of Russell Co.) died Saturday, September 29, 2018 at her home. She was born April 8, 1936 in Russell County to the late George Elford & Letha Bradshaw Hayes.
 
Mary Helen was a beautician.

Glydus Bailey, 105,  a resident of Summit Manor Nursing Home, Columbia, KY passed away Monday, October 1, 2018 at 5:54 PM at Signature Summit Manor Nursing Home. She was born in Irvine, Kentucky on August 12, 1913, the daughter of the late Ed and Cora Stamper Case of Estill County, KY.
 
She was preceded in death by her husband: Hardy J. Bailey on February 13, 1990. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Arvist “Stick” Harmon, a daughter & son-in-law, Ada & Herman Abbott, one son, Howard Bailey, her eight siblings, and also 2 grandchildren. 
 
Mrs. Bailey was a member of the Russell Heights Baptist Church and was a homemaker and an avid gardener.  She loved cooking, quilting, reading, and singing, and she loved the outdoors and animals.

Kenneth G. Thomas, 81 of Liberty, KY passed away on Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Casey County Hospital. Born on December 2, 1936 in Adair County, KY, he was a son of the late Ray & Venus Daughtery Thomas. 
 
Kenneth retired from General Motors. He was an Army veteran. Mr. Thomas was a longtime faithful member of Liberty First Baptist Church. He was an incredible husband and family man that loved the Lord and his church.

Shirley D. Stayton, 70, of Savannah, Georgia (formerly of Adair County) passed away Saturday, September 29, 2018. She was born August 11, 1948, the daughter of the late Clarence and Della Sneed. She was also preceded in death by one sister: Annie Beula Sneed. 
 
Shirley was a retired cosmetologist and a member of Windsor Forest Baptist Church where she volunteered and served on various committees for well over 30 years. She enjoyed painting and reading, but her greatest joy in life was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother.
