The City of Columbia, in collaboration with the Arts Administration Program at Lindsey Wilson University and the Adair County Genealogical Center, will be presenting the Mark Twain Storytelling Festival in Columbia on June 19 and June 20.
Local (and area) storytellers who will participate are:
- Mike Watson, a historical perspective
- Mary Hamilton, Kentucky Folklore
- Suzanne Bennett as Jane Todd Crawford
- Richard Phelps as Col William Casey
- Darlene Campbell as Jane Lampton Clements
- Robert Brock as Mark Twain
- Ray Mendenhall, Humorist, storyteller, musician
There will be a reception on Friday evening, and Saturday will be a day of storytelling (morning and into the afternoon).
“We encourage visitors to utilize local restaurants and local businesses during their time in Columbia and Adair County,” stated Mayor Hoots.
Plans are underway to do a mural downtown on South Reed Street pertaining to Mark Twain and his mother, Jane Lampton.
