On Monday, Sept. 8, 2017 at 1:54pm Columbia Police Officers received a dispatch from Adair County 911 of a Breaking and Entering in progress at Country Place Apartments. The caller advised dispatch that an unknown white male was trying to gain access into a vehicle that didn't belong to him. Officers arrived at the location within minutes and located the perpetrator in the drivers seat of a silver Nissan car. The window had been broken out and the operator was attempting to leave with the vehicle.
The incident resulted in the arrest of 32-year-old Julian Underwood of Columbia, Ky. on charges of Criminal Mischief 1st degree and Theft By Unlawful Taking (Auto) over $10,000. Underwood was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by CPD Sgt. Gary Roy who was assisted by Sgt. Jr. Murphy.
