A Pulaski County grandmother was accidentally shot and killed by her grandson in a tragic accident.
Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck says it happened around 9pm Wednesday on KY 1003, east of Somerset. 68-year-old Eutta Phelps of Somerset, KY was a passenger in the front seat of her own vehicle. One of her grandsons and another juvenile were examining a handgun that had been left in the back seat when it accidentally discharged. Deputies say Phelps received a single gunshot wound.
Phelps was transported by ambulance to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital where she was later pronounced dead. Deputies were assisted at the scene by Pulaski Co. EMS, and Fire Departments from White Lily, Mount Victory, and Shopville.
