SEMI OVERTURNS ON FRI. IN ADAIR CO.; DRIVER ESCAPES INJURY

A semi loaded with vinegar overturned in Adair Co. on Friday afternoon.

The Adair County Sheriff's Department was dispatched to the accident that occurred approx. 8 1/2 miles from Columbia on Hwy. 55 South. Deputy Joey Keith's investigation determined that 59-year-old Steven Miles of Louisville, KY was driving a semi fully loaded with cases of vinegar traveling north on South 55 when, for an unknown reason, dropped off the right shoulder of the road.  Miles was unable to bring the semi back onto the road and flipped. The semi then traveled approx. 75 feet before coming to rest on its side.

Miles was not injured in the accident. The highway was blocked off for approx. 10 hours while emergency personnel cleaned up the accident.

Deputy Keith was assisted on the Scene by Deputy Padget, Deputy Durbin, Sheriff Moss, Kentucky State Police, Adair County Fire Dept., Adair County EMS and Adair County Emergency Manager Mike Keltner.
