A Boyle County woman is dead after her home caught fire early Monday morning.

It happened on Old Hustonville Road, just south of Danville. Firefighters say the fire broke out just before 1 a.m. Monday in the basement, before moving upstairs to the rest of the house. One woman died in the fire. The Boyle Co. coroner identified her as 64-year-old Gerri Compton. She was found in a bedroom at the back of the house. Compton’s body was taken to Frankfort for an autopsy. No foul play is suspected.

KSP is still investigating the cause of the fire.
