Columbia, Ky. (December 9, 2017) – Tpr. Daniel Forbis is investigating a collision that occurred Saturday at approximately 6:00 PM EST on US 0068 at the Taylor/Marion County line. 30-year-old Casey Sears of Bowling Green, KY was operating an eastbound 1999 Mercury Grand Marquis when the car crossed a patch of black ice causing Sears to lose control and cross into the path of a westbound 2007 Chrysler operated by 29-year-old Sommer Smith of Frankfort, KY. The two vehicles collided causing the Mercury to catch fire.
Sears was transported to Taylor Regional Hospital where he was treated for non life threatening injuries. Smith and two passengers were transported to Springview Hospital where they were transported for non life threatening injuries. All occupants were wearing seatbelts.
Tpr. Forbis was assisted at the scene by the Taylor County Fire and Rescue, Campbellsville/Taylor County EMS, Lebanon Fire Department, Marion County Fire and Rescue, Marion County EMS and Sheriff's Department.
