It was a packed house at the Liberty City Hall yesterday as residents and business owners attended a special hearing concerning the proposed 1% Occupational Tax.
The Tax was discussed at great length. The general consensus being that the tax is not welcome.
Mayor Steven Brown will now move to hold a work session to discuss the numerous concerns of the public and try to redraft the tax ordinance in hopes of making it more acceptable.
A Special Called meeting of City Council will then be held for the 2nd Vote.
Casey County is currently one of only a dozen communities in the state without some form of Occupational Tax.
