Sheriff Greg Speck reports that deputies were dispatched to a 911 call of a single vehicle injury accident near the intersection of Highway 461 and East Highway 80 at 2:50 AM Wednesday, December 13, 2017.
Upon arrival at the scene near Jack's Grocery on the south side of the intersection of 461 and East 80, Deputy Marcus Harrison found a semi tractor-trailer some 800 feet off the roadway in a tree line near the grocery store. The driver of the truck was located 30 yards from the wreckage in the woods adjacent to the scene of the accident.
Cassie French-Blash, age 34 of Temple Texas was the operator of the semi tractor- trailer. He complained of hypothermia, chest and abdominal pains and was treated at the scene by Pulaski County EMS personnel.
Preliminary investigation by Deputy Harrison indicated that the tractor-trailer was southbound on Highway 461 at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at the intersection with East Highway 80. The vehicle proceeded across both lanes of Highway 80 and travelled up the hill near Jack's Grocery where it was stopped by large pine trees behind the store.
Mr. French was transported to Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital for treatment. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by the Pulaski County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by the Shopville Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper Adam Childress of the KSP.
