A complaint of suspicious activity resulted in the arrest of a Casey County woman Thursday morning on drug trafficking charges.
At approximately 11:00 a.m., Sgt. Evan Burton came into contact with a 2015 Hyundai car in the parking lot of the Cumberland Lodge in Russell Springs occupied by two persons. Information in the initial complaint, coupled with information ascertained by Sgt. Burton, prompted him to deploy his partner, K-9 Matt, resulting in a positive alert by K-9 Matt to the odor of a controlled substance coming from the vehicle. The subsequent search led to the discovery of approximately 1 ½ grams of “crystal meth”, five syringes and $1,182 cash. Two of the syringes had a liquid mixture suspected of containing “meth”.
Adrian Ashley Lawless, 26, of Liberty, was arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth), Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. She was processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center.
A male passenger from Kings Mountain was released after questioning.
Sgt. Burton & K-9 Matt were assisted by RCSO Lt. David Cain, RSPD Sgt. Chasity Shirley and RSPD Officer Nathan Antle.
