A traffic stop for improper equipment and registration resulted in the arrest of two men for trafficking in meth and other charges.
At approximately 10:00 p.m. Monday, russell County Sheriff Deputy Nathan Ginn stopped a 1997 Chrysler car on Lakeway Drive in Russell Springs for a defective headlight and improper registration plates. The driver, 32 year old Marlus Loy, was operating on a suspended license. As the investigation continued, a baggie containing suspected methamphetamine, numerous syringes, a set of scales and other drug paraphernalia items were found.
Loy, and a passenger, Justin Gregory, 39, of Science Hill, were both arrested and charged with Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth) and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Loy was also charged with Operating on a Suspended License and several traffic offenses.
Both men were processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. Deputy Ginn was assisted by Deputy Dustin Bunch and Russell Springs Police Officers Jeremy West and Ethan Pike.
