3-VEHICLE CRASH ON N 55 IN ADAIR CO. SENDS 5 PEOPLE TO HOSPITAL

On Monday, June 18, 2018 the Adair County Sheriff's Office responded to a 3-vehicle accident at 6500 Campbellsville Road, Columbia.

A preliminary investigation determined that a white 2003 F-250 pickup truck pulling a ball hitch trailer, operated by Robert Lockey 54 of Columbia, KY was north bound on Campbellsville Road. A 2013 white Honda Odyssey operated by Helen Butler, 72, of Columbia, KY was in the northbound lane, stopped to make a left turn onto Farris Road. Lockey was unable to stop his vehicle in time and struck Butler's vehicle in the rear. The collision caused Butler's vehicle to travel into the southbound lane of traffic, colliding with the front of a black 2000 Frightliner Sterling dump truck operated by Brian Daniel, 43, of Albany, KY. The dump truck continued on and struck a guardrail then overturned over an enbankment.

Roberty Lockey and his passenger, 54 year old Laura Lockey of Columbia, KY were able to walk away with minor injuries. Helen Butler and her passenger, 73 year old Carolyn Humphress of Columbia, KY were transported by Adair County EMS to T.J Health Columbia for treatment of injuries. Brian Daniel was also transported by Adair EMS to T.J Health Columbia for treatment.

The Adair County Sheriff's Office was assisted on the scene by Adair County EMS and the Adair County Rescue Squad. The accident remains under investigation.
