STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED IN COLUMBIA

Columbia Police Department and Adair County Sheriff's Office have recovered a stolen vehicle taken from West Page St, Columbia on June 24, 2018.

According to the police report, the vehicle was recovered on Tuesday, July 3, 2018 at 3:17 pm when CPD Officer Kevin Atwood and Adair County Sheriff’s Deputy Brandon Hitch responded to a call that a vehicle that Columbia Police had been looking for was in the Creek View mobile home park. Upon arrival, a 2010 Mazda 6 was located.

A suspect in the theft, Larry Taylor, 38, of Adair County had been developed by CPD Officer Josh Brockman and a search of the area resulted in Taylor being found hiding in a closet of a mobile home. Deputy Hitch also found Taylor to be in possession of methamphetamine, scales, cash and a loaded firearm. Taylor is a convicted felon and unable to possess any firearm. Taylor was also served with 4 outstanding warrants of arrest including one from Probation and Parole.

Taylor was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail by Deputy Brandon Hitch on the warrants. Officer Brockman and Adair County Deputy Hitch will present their cases to the Adair County Grand Jury seeking indictments on the auto theft and drug charges.

Atwood and Hitch were assisted at the scene by Officer Jamie Cole, Sheriff Harrison Moss and Officer Josh Brockman.
