CASEY CO. BOARD OF EDUCATION 7/10/18

 

THE CASEY COUNTY BOARD OF EDUCATION MET IN REGULAR SESSION LAST NIGHT.
 
THREE COMMUNITY CHAMPIONS WERE NAMED IN RECOGNITION OF COMMUNICATIONS EFFORTS BETWEEN THE SCHOOL SYSTEM AND THE PUBLIC...

SUPERINTENDENT, MARION SOWDERS, GAVE A PRESENTATION TO THE BOARD CONCERNING THE PLAYGROUND AT LIBERTY ELEMENTARY. HE TOLD THE BOARD THAT THE CURRENT EQUIPMENT WAS IN A STATE OF DIS-REPAIR. THE PROPOSAL WAS TO SCRAP IT AND BUILD AN INCLUSIVE PLAYGROUND ON THE CURRENT SITE. MR. SOWDERS PRESENTED THREE DESIGNS FOR CONSIDERATION, WHICH WOULD ACCOMODATE CHILDREN FROM 5-12 YEARS OF AGE. THE ISSUE WAS TABLED FOR FURTHER DISCUSSION AT THE BOARD'S AUGUST MEETING.

SOME ITEMS OF INTEREST FOR APPROVAL ON THE CONSENT ITEMS LIST, INCLUDED ONLY TWO ON THE DROP OUT REPORT FOR THE YEAR, FREE LUNCHES FOR ALL STUDENTS WILL CONTINUE, JOHNSON CONTROLS WAS AWARDED A BID FOR AN UPDATE TO INTERCOM SYSTEMS, AND SEVERAL KITCHEN APPLIANCES WERE DECLARED SURPLUS PROPERTY.
