A Russell Springs woman was arrested early Sunday on drug trafficking and evidence tampering charges following an investigation by members of the Russell County Sheriff’s Department and Russell Springs Police Department.
Latisha Dawn Cooper, 32, was taken into custody at the Russell County Hospital emergency room where she had been taken following a traffic stop on U.S. 127 at the Louie B. Nunn Cumberland Parkway interchange.
The investigation resulted in the discovery of approximately 8 grams of “crystal methamphetamine”.
Cooper was processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center on charges of Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (over 2 grams of methamphetamine) and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
The investigation is ongoing by RCSO Det. Joey Hoover, RCSO Deputy Nathan Ginn, RSPD Sgt. Chasity Shirley, RSPD Sgt. Bobby Pritchard and RSPD Officer Ethan Pike. Additional arrests are forthcoming.
