A traffic stop for defective lighting equipment resulted in a Jamestown, KY man being arrested for drug trafficking and evidence tampering.
At approximately 9:50pm Monday, Deputy Nathan Ginn was in the process of pulling a vehicle over on U.S. 127 North near Damron Creek Road when he observed the front seat passenger throw a yellow bag out the window. Moments later, the passenger, Michael D. Blakey, 53, was arrested on a Failure to Appear warrant from Fayette District Court. During a search of the nearby area, the yellow bag was located by Deputy Ginn. The bag contained smaller, individual baggies with approximately 5 grams of "crystal meth".
Blakey was processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center on charges of Trafficking in a Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth) and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
