SOMERSET MAN ARRESTED AFTER TUSSLE WITH POLICE

 

Pulaski County Sheriff Greg Speck reports that a Somerset man was arrested Friday, August 17, 2018 on various charges including assault of a police officer.

 

Deputy Matthew Bryant and Deputy Zach Mayfield received information that an individual who was being sought on a Pulaski County Circuit Court Warrant could be found at a residence on Murphy Avenue in Somerset.  

 

The Deputies, along with Officer Nick Taylor of the Somerset Police Department and Constable Gary Baldock obtained permission to search the residence at 102 Murphy Avenue.  

 

When officers searched the basement, they encountered an individual hiding from view.  Paul James Pitman, age 43 of White Street in Somerset was ordered to come out into full view of the officers.  Pitman failed to comply with officers commands and began to resist. Deputy Bryant deployed his taser and Deputy Mayfield and Officer Taylor were able to gain control of Mr. Pitman who continued to resist after being tased.

 

Paul James Pitman was charged with 1. Kentucky State Parole Violation.  2. Resisting Arrest. 3. Assault 3rd Degree-Police Officer or Probation Officer.  4. Terroristic Threatening, 3rd Degree.

 

Mr. Pitman was lodged in the Pulaski County Detention Center without further incident.  No officers were injured in the encounter.
