On Monday, August 27, 2018 at approximately 11:40amCT, members of the Russell County Sheriff’s Department, Russell Springs Police Department and Kentucky State Police executed a search warrant at 342 Voils Road, Russell Springs. The joint investigation and search resulted in 3 persons being arrested for Trafficking in Methamphetamine, one person was arrested for Possession of Meth, and more than 4 ounces of “crystal meth” was seized along with $3,978.00 cash.

Those arrested and the criminal charges they are facing include:

1. Mary Jo Brown, age 51 – Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia & Possession of Marijuana.
2. Bobby G. Smith, age 54 – Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth), Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Prescription Controlled Substance Not In Proper Container, Driving on Expired Operators License
3. Daniel Joe Brown, age 39 – Trafficking in Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth)
4. Daron McQueary, age 40 – Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree (meth) & Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

All four persons were processed and lodged in the Russell County Detention Center. More charges are likely when additional evidence is presented to a future session of the Russell County Grand Jury.

Officers involved in the investigation, search and arrests include: Sgt. Mark Cromwell, Sgt. Evan Burton & K-9 Matt, Det. Joey Hoover & K-9 Maxo, and Deputy Nathan Ginn of the Russell County Sheriff’s Department; Sgt. Chasity Shirley, Officer Ethan Pike and Officer Lucas Justice of the Russell Springs Police Department; Trooper Martin Wesley, Trooper Jordan Carter and Trooper Adam Likins of the Kentucky State Police and Officer Zach Carney with the Kentucky Department of Fish & Wildlife.
