The second serious accident in four days occurred on Tuesday afternoon, Sept. 4, 2018 on the Columbia Bypass, at the intersection of the Bypass & Burkesville Road. Columbia Police investigated the collision that resulted in one patient being flown from the scene by Air Evac.
The collision occurred at 12:38pmCT when a 2005 Chevy Cobalt, operated by 45-year-old Dawn Murray of Columbia, KY entered into the intersection while traveling north on Burksville Street without right-of-way. The vehicle was struck by a 2018 Freightliner being driven by Tony Lowe of Somerset, KY who was traveling north-west on the Bypass with right-of way. The collision resulted in Dawn Murray being airlifted from the scene by the Air Evac Lifeteam. She is listed in critcal condition.
CPD Sgt Murphy is continuing the investigation.
