This morning (Sunday, Sept. 9) at 12:26amET, the Marion Co. Sheriff's Office received a report of a 1-vehicle collision on St. Joe Road (Hwy 412) approx. 4 miles west of Lebanon, KY. 16-year-old Davis M. Rafferty of Lebanon, KY was operating a 1999 Ford pickup truck when he lost control in a curve. The vehicle traveled off the right shoulder of the roadway, then re-entered the roaway and crossed to the opposite lane before exiting off the left shoulder and striking several trees before coming to rest in a wooded area.
Two passengers, 17-year-old Joseph M. Robey and 17-year-old Timothy A. Smith both from the St. Francis community of Marion County, KY were prounced dead at the scene by the Marion Co. Coroner. Three other passengers were 16 & 17 year old males from Marion Co. All were terated at the scene and transported to Springview Hospital by Marion Co. EMS.
Deputy Sheriff Tristan Hayden is in charge of the investigation. Raywick Fire and Marion County Rescue assisted at the scene.
