Lexington Democrat Reggie Thomas pre-filed the bill that would gradually raise the minimum wage over the next seven years. By July of 2026, the minimum wage would be up to $15 an hour. Senator Thomas noted that Arkansas just enacted a $12 minimum wage, adding if Arkansas can do it, so can Kentucky. He says "We need to make sure that everyone has a livable wage." The 2019 general assembly convenes on January 8, 2019.
