On Wednesday, December 19, 2018 at approximately 10:10pmCT, Adair County Deputy Josh Durbin attempted a traffic stop on a 1997 gray Chevy pickup for traffic violations on Portland Road. The driver, 49-year-old Marcus Janes of Columbia, KY failed to stop and fled the scene at a high rate of speed, turning onto Milltown Road. After approx. 2 miles, Janes lost control of his pickup and crashed into a fence. Janes was taken into custody and charged with One Headlight, Reckless Driving, Wanton Endangerment 1st degree (Police Officer), Fleeing or Evading Police-1st degree (Motor Vehicle) and Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence.
Deputy Durbin was assisted on the scene by Kentucky state Police and Deputy Padgett.
