The Russell County Fiscal court met in regular session Monday, January 14, 2019. The constables requested to have permission to have blue lights on their vehicles once they have the proper training required. The court voted in favor.
The court had a request from Greg Shaw of Lakewood Country Club to reconsider Sunday alcohol sales. They polled the court and no vote was taken. The court will start the process with a first reading of the ABC Sunday ordinance scheduled for the February meeting. A second reading and vote will be in March.
Some funds were transferred to handle the payment of safe rooms in the county. The court made their regular yearly payments ot the fire deparments, as they do the first of each year. They also had the first reading of the occupational tax with no changes made. The rate remains .75 percent.
